I serviced the trans oil 8 months ago. No indication of leakage, no towing, no heavy loads, light on the throttle and nothing to indicate an impending problem. I am going to check the fluid just to rule out something simple. Thanks

You can put the selector into R and it feels normal. No clunky movement or sound. And then after putting the selector into R the transmission engages drive just as if you had put it into drive.
