Re: My Volvo saga continues..Brakes

Did you also heat up the wheel bearing ? i was only "trying" to heat up the hub and then squirting water inside the axle bolt hole. But after more failed attempts and knowing spare parts were around the corner, it was gloves off and i torched the whole darn thing. The grease boiled out of the beari...

When these things get stuck they really need a press. Plan on that contingency when doing any hub work
Ya, the wifes XC90 just developed a wheel bearing noise. Havent narrowed it down to front or rear yet but i'll probably just buy the knuckle/hub and axle again before i even start

Re: My Volvo saga continues..Brakes

Got that tone ring changed today lol. Yesterday I made another attempt at it since im driving to gulf coast this weekend. I had a new propane torch, one if the 500,000 btu ones that shoots a 3" round flame 5ft :D So I warmed it up again. Axle still wouldn't budge. Checked local salvage yard to make ...

I drew up a hud tool yesterday to cut on the plasma table. It will bolt down with lugs, and has a 1" bolt in center to press axle out than i can hammer on. Its made to fit 5x100 up to 5x115 bolt patterns

Re: My Volvo saga continues..Brakes

Tried changing the ABS ring on front right axle yesterday. Couldn't get the shaft out of the hub. Splines seized solid. I just had it out easily a couple years ago too when i changed bevel gear

My Volvo saga continues..Brakes

Replaced the Front rotors on my 04 XC70 this weekends. Rotors and pads up front, pretty straight forward typical brake job. Calipers and hoses in decent shape, cleaned up the pad slide are, regreased the caliper slider pins, installed rotors, slowly compressed pistons, installed pads and put it all ...

Re: GoPro on a low quality control arm

TerryJr - this gets the post of the Month award for crappy parts awareness That is terrifying for a new part. This will get cross-posted to the P80 and P2 Fora Haha thanks. Just swapped on MOOG arms and it feels safe again. Needs an alignment and new tires but I could see the bushing quality was ni...

Will work again after an ignition restart. -the obvious swerving issue -CD player makes god awful noises every time you start it for about 3...

Re: New member, avid DIY'er now with two XC's

Tried repairing my XC90's AWD last night. Anti Skid lights been on for years. Funny thing is it usually works when its cold. But the wifes been complaining it keeps peeling on out wet hills so i picked up a complete lower mileage haldex unit for local yard for $60. I had codes for "DEM oil pressure ...
