The wires are not nibbled on. It looks gnarled (like twisted/torn) but not gnawed. The black sheath is severed/split/torn in two places. Still intact otherwise with no teeth marks or other signs of damage.

Could they be getting hung up on the axle ...

I knocked my rear view mirror off with my purse. Stupid yeah. Knocked it just right. Anywhooo... it looks like I can pop it back into the socket but I can't seem to get enough push. Any tips?
