Any concerns about using jumper cables?
Yesterday, I got called from someone who had a flat battery, and they wanted me to come by and give a jump with my 2015 V60. I was reluctant to do this as I was concerned that this can cause weird electrical issues in the car (perhaps even blowing out something or another along the way, which would ...

Re: Vida DICE - "NO TOOL CONNECTION" error
You must be running a 32-bit browser for VIDA to work properly. Normally the desktop icons should launch the correct browser - if you are trying to get to the thing from a browser launched in some other manner, you might have a 64-bit browser.

Re: Dice drivers
Let me toss another thing out there - in the event the standalone diagnostic works, then it is likely that the problem is how you are using the browser. When I use VIDA with success, I *ALWAYS* use the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer 8. I hear IE9 also works, but I have not tested it. I know tha...

Re: Dice drivers
I don't have 2010, so I can't directly help. One thing I can suggest is that with 2014, you should find something on your start menu "DiCE->DiCE Diagnostic". It will do basic communications checking and will tell you your firmware version. See if this works. It is a small standalone app, a...

Re: 2013 S60 city safety service required?
Unless it is something as trivial as a blown fuse, your starting point is probably going to be to find someone with DiCE/VIDA and see what the fault codes are. But I say that as an armchair mechanic, and I don't even know which module city safety is in. As a bonus, with VIDA you can look at the wiri...

Re: 2015 V60 spare tire alternatives?
I have a 2012 C70. If I bought a spare, it's the only thing I'd carry in the trunk - not so much as room for a 6-pack with the top down. Given how bad donut spares suck, I've felt it's a better investment to get a AAA membership, and just plan on towing it to the shop if it gets a flat. Maybe carry...

Re: VIDA 2012B VMWare Player Image
Hi, I got all the files ready to go. I went to start the VM, and it goes into a loop of booting Windows. It will show the VirtualBox boot screen, go the the "Windows is Loading Files" screen, then start over again. How do I fix that to get into the system? I lowered the memory to 3.1GB be...

Re: 2015 V60 spare tire alternatives?
Take a close look in your trunk. For whatever reason, my car came with the glue can, but it also came with a jack and a wrench (I am not sure how that is supposed to be useful, but the jack is clearly present). But you might in fact have a jack already. As to the question of a tire, I am all ears. I...

Re: buy volvo vida dice
ericy- please do! I am definitely in for one of these. If you find yours is fully loaded (as they say), I'd like to know the seller! I bought mine from eBay from a seller named "easybuying168". The items ship from Staten Island. It took 5 days after ordering for me to receive the unit. It...

Re: DICE won't communicate with car
The recommended software is WinXP and Win7 for later versions. I have VIDA running in a virtual Win7 window on my Win10 laptop for this reason. I have yet to buy a DICE unit to try with this but still I can look up diagrams, read procedures, etc. I think virtual is really the way to go these days. ...
