Re: 05 S60 P0027 & P0079

4 days worth of driving and no return of the code. It would have come back by now. Whenever I cleared the codes before changing the part it came back in a matter of minutes. Thanks for everyone's help!

Part replaced. Code gone. Check Engine light is off. Did a 5 mile test drive and it didn't come back on. I'll report back if the problem returns but I think we're good! Re: 05 S60 P0027 & P0079

BTW, what's the torque value on the bolts that hold the solenoid in place? The Haynes manual doesn't specifically call out the exhaust valve solenoid, but it does cover replacement of the camshaft position solenoid and calls out bolt torque values of 10Nm(7lbft). Sound reasonable?

Thanks, I did remember to order the gasket too #NeverReuseAGasket. Part gets in today. I'll probably install it over the weekend if not sooner. Will I have to clear the trouble code or will it self clear?

Re: 05 S60 P0027 & P0079

This problem seems spot on with what I own and what I'm seeing. The link to the parts page doesn't work any more. Is this the solenoid that needs replacing? If so it appears to be pretty easy to get to.
