Re: Mobil 1 Question

Thanks for the reply's, the car has 127.000 on her. She must have been a garage queen because she looks almost brand new. I've never run 0-40 before in any of my other cars. I'll have to check it out and see if it's available in my area off the shelf. I'm also looking at Filters I know Mann and Mahl...

Re: Split Loom Deterioration

Thanks for the replay and the info. That's some interesting stuff, I've used their glass tape before for rebuilding transformers for audio amps. It's good stuff but make sure you use gloves when using it. I was thinking more of using something along these lines http://www.jegs.com/p/Vibrant-Performa...

Re: Split Loom Deterioration

Do you guys think this condition might be more likely to happen on a Turbo model due to the heat? I did notice that the portions under the electrical tape were actually in good shape. So the extra layer of plastic seem to keep the plastic safe. I wonder if anyone makes a foil heat shielded split loo...

Re: Split Loom Deterioration

Thanks for the reply, I was looking at the Doorman stuff it's not expensive so that is not an issue. Great idea with the silicon tape. Did you use a particular brand? Looks like a project to replace all of it in the high heat areas, then work out from there. Again it's good to know I'm not the only ...

Split Loom Deterioration

I was working under the hood of the V70 last night and noticed much of the plastic split loom has deteriorated to the point if you touch it it falls to pieces. I had some in my tool kit but I'm wondering if I need to replace it with a different type. I've found some high heat stuff but I've been loo...

Re: 2001 V70 sepentine belt question

Thanks for the info, can I spray the pulleys down with carb cleaner if I find they have some oil or residue on them? Also how does one determine if the main belt is stretched out of spec? I was thinking it may just be a loose belt due to age. I will be checking other stuff on the car today so your a...
