I went with the Sacer because the Xemodex would have had the car out of service for over a week with the throttle going back and forth.
Yes, the magnet adjustment is VERY finicky, the range of too-low-voltage to too-high-voltage was less than one degree on mine.
Oh, and I wound up slashing my hand ...

05 XC70 IPD upper engine torque mount crumbling?
A couple years ago the upper torque mount hardened and started clunking, so I picked up an IPD urethane one (having had good luck with the urethane radius arm cone bushings and accessory bushings on the 740). Been through a couple as they have been crumbling to dust and chunks after about 2 years ...

Re: 2006 XC70 likely valve seals - what else to look at
The PCV return was a mess... I pushed a wire through it to open it back up but might be good to look from the bottom.
What has happened to the valve seal supply? None of my usual suspects have the Volvo 272424 set, just onesies or the aftermarkets, and while you can find Elring or Reinz I dont ...

Re: 2001 V70XC rough idle/sometimes very rough at start/sometimes no throttle
Are the Sacer conversion kits still good? They seem to be harder to find, wish there were more parts sales people... also having problems finding the Volvo valve seal kit.
Looks like Sacer might only be available on eBay, I usually steer clear of there and Amazon but have people had luck with this ...

2001 V70XC rough idle/sometimes very rough at start/sometimes no throttle
Trying to troubleshoot an occasional problem on the 01 V70XC/2.4.
Somewhat rough idle is more common, "rough" meaning comparable to a GM 4 cylinder or maybe Toyota, so not super rough but not as smooth as a Volvo usually is. Frequently worse when brakes applied so I strongly suspect vacuum leak is ...

2006 XC70 likely valve seals - what else to look at
The 2006 XC70 2.5L is reaching that magic number of 1L of oil per megameter that Volvo set for acknowledging a problem (! - seems all my RWD cars had much more reasonable oil consumption expectations).
Anyway, over the past few years I went over the PCV system twice and just last year verified that ...

Ah good, thank you - many pictures I see out there must be of much younger sensors.

Re: Turbo/induction troubleshooting 2006 XC70
Clogged again... this time the cat is completely gone. Looks like inlet valve seals - get a huge cloud of smoke behind the car when I accelerate after using engine braking down longer hills now that the cat isn't disguising it anymore (if I coast in neutral not as much, so it seems to be responding ...

Re: 2001 V70XC, occasional no throttle but starts fine
Update (though still sort of "crossing fingers and hoping" rather than "this logically solves it")
Transmission was starting to give occasional hard shifts so changed the fluid and at the same time I took the car keys from of my (very large) keyring-o-everything and put them on their own ring to ...

upstream O2 sensor - is this coolant? - 01 V70XC
Just replaced the upstream O2 sensor on the 2001 V70XC (because of engine code). Pulled it out an am a little unsure of the look of the sensor - could just be "this is what they look like after 200k miles" or could be something wrong (though it doesn't seem to be "gunky" enough for coolant leak ...
