Re: 04 XC70, PS line leak where it enters the rack
Thanks, that's a great video but I'm not sure if that's where mine is leaking....Mine looks to be leaking from the smaller lines that aren't screwed in, it's a smaller line that looks like it's held by a retaining plate secured by a Torx fastener. I do have another xc70 I can use that video for. And...

04 XC70, PS line leak where it enters the rack
Hey all, During the cold spell I replaced the radiator in my sons car, everything went well and i told him to keep an eye on the coolant level. He checked it, it was fine, but noticed the PS reservoir was low so he stopped at an auto parts store and picked some generic (domestic vehicle I think) flu...

Re: 06 V70, cranks but no start
Had some good afternoon weather so I locked the cams and removed the exhaust and intake hubs, the front hub was dry behind it but could tell the exhaust hub had been leaking oil behind it, not sure if it was the cam seal or o-ring (or hub itself ?) but I changed the front cam seal and put the old pu...

Re: 06 V70, cranks but no start
In my experience with P2 cars... - The Intake VVT Hub has about 1 mm play after 100K miles. It easily lasts 300K bc it is rarely activated. - The Exhaust VVT Hub usually has about 2-3 mm play after 100K miles. If the play is > 3 mm, then even with new cam seals, it leaks anyway. This is why I never...

Re: 06 V70, cranks but no start
so theres pressure at the rail, but how much ? a weak pump will drive fuel to the rail but not enough to run the engine. you can unplug the pem and drive the pump with constant 12v feed, it should get you 80 psi. if the engine starts with that test arrangement it tells you the pem is on the fritz. ...

Re: 06 V70, cranks but no start
Just got a notice from UPS that the new TB and seals are on the way so I pulled the belt in anticipation. I should've checked earlier but I have about 1mm axial play on the intake pulley and about 2.3mm on the exhaust one, anyone know if those are within limits?

Re: 06 V70, cranks but no start
Was the oil leaking from the crankshaft seal? When I first replaced the front crankshaft seal it started leaking right away. The splines on the crankshaft easily split the seal. If it is the front crankshaft seal then use either a funnel over the splines or wrap them with electrical tape. Whatever ...

Re: 06 V70, cranks but no start
Was able to pull the crank nut off the other (parts) car and line up the marks on this car and they all look good. Don't get why it won't start...it has fuel, spark, and it's in time. When the engine was spinning over and looking at the spark plug I was getting air coming out of the combustion chamb...

Re: 06 V70, cranks but no start
Pulled the serpentine belt and mid timing belt cover but couldn't see the lower timing mark, there's oil from the water pump on down. Sprayed the area with brake cleaner and pulled off the front wheel so I could get to the crank pulley nut and guess what, no crank nut, it fell off at some point. Wil...
