2012 XC70 pre-purchase inspection

I am looking at a used 2012 XC70 with 130k on the clock, it looks to be in good condition, and is a good deal. I was hoping someone could let me know about any common issues with these cars and what I should check out. I am very familiar with the P2 cars but have no experience with these. Thank you!

Re: 2002 XC70 bent valve possibility

I understand the dealers position, but the service bulletin for the latest fuel pump "recall" does say the work should be performed regardless of car age or mileage.

It does seem like that, though VDASH claims to be able to program new fobs.

Re: 2002 XC70 bent valve possibility

I tried to get Volvo to cover the cost of fuel pump replacement through the local dealer and VCNA but they are tired of arguing with me. I think it should be covered based off of the original extended "warranty" that was offered which was later updated to a "Recall" SB220A. I'll ...

Re: 2002 XC70 bent valve possibility

I called Volvo North America and they were not keen on fixing the fuel pump. Is there a magical string of words that will unlock their charity?

Re: 2002 XC70 bent valve possibility

Update on the car - I've put over 100 miles on it now with some highway driving. No issues with the engine to report, not a single leak and it seems to run perfect. I was driving to work the other day when it suddenly died, this had me very concerned something was wrong but it turns out it was just ...

Does anyone know what these parts are? Leftovers from the job... I think the plastic hose routing thing goes near the pct or somewhere near that gaggle of hoses but I can't remember

Re: 2002 XC70 bent valve possibility

I just started it, seems to run fine 😎 I found a copper crush washer on the ground afterward, wondering if it fell off the banjo bolt? Does anyone remember if you can see the intake manifold side copper under the banjo normally or is it buried in a recess? 😬 That's going to be fun if I have to get i...

Re: 2002 XC70 bent valve possibility

I am going to just put it back together and hope it runs... stories from this forum are leading me to consider that it's probably OK. One more question, how can I pull power to the fuel pump to get it to crank without spraying fuel everywhere? I'm kind of embarrassed to ask but it's not immediately ...

Re: 2002 XC70 bent valve possibility

Alright... I was looking through some previous threads about bent valves and saw where you commented "If the valves hit the pistons even lightly they could be bent and leak air."

Is this using the starter or?
