Re: 2000 V40 1.9T Burning Coolant

It turned out that when I installed the replacement turbo, I failed to seat the oil drain tube in properly. The o-ring was mangled also, probably restricting flow. At the time, I didn't realize that the torx bolts at the connection on the turbo itself were accessible with a 1/4 " bit-swivel-ext...

Re: 2000 V40 1.9T Burning Coolant

Those ultra gauges look like a neat product.
My turbo seals came in yesterday. When it warms up here tomorrow, I'll install and run the motor for a longer duration and get back to you all on the results. Thanks for the great input.

Re: 2000 V40 1.9T Burning Coolant

Unfortunately, after test driving it, I signed an "as is" disclaimer. I'm hoping not a cracked block too! The dealership would not do anything more for me on it before I touched it. I called the shop who did the head gasket that said that it was towed in with a blown head gasket and that t...

Re: 2000 V40 1.9T Burning Coolant

I haven't checked the PCV system yet. This will be on my list for tomorrow. The valve seals were reported to be new. Another thing on the list will be to check on the oil return line from the turbo(it's super crammed in there on these cars). I'm reading in some other forums that improper oil drain b...

Re: 2000 V40 1.9T Burning Coolant

I let it idle for about a half hour and then took it out on the road. There were huge white clouds mostly under acceleration. The coolant level did drop a bit. The coolant combustion gas test is coming back ok and there is no bubbling in the reservoir while putting pressure to each cylinder at TDC. ...

Re: 2000 V40 1.9T Burning Coolant

Mostly by the white smoke and smell. The level doesn't seem to be fluctuating however, I haven't been driving the car. It's been run 15 minutes at a time or so to get up to temp inside my garage. All four plugs seem to have a white tint. After talking to the machine shop that did the head work, they...

Re: 2000 V40 1.9T Burning Coolant

That would be another good test to try next. After removing the coolant in and out lines and capping them then letting the motor idle and warm up to operating temperature, it's still burning coolant. I also redid the compression and leak down tests right away after shutting down while the motor was ...
