Re: 96' 850 timing belt snapped
Hey had to take a break, at it again. Got the cam cover on and tried to turn the cams, the exhaust cam does a full 360 but the intake snags on something about half a turn around and wont continue. Any idea what that means? Robert in the video on the 3rd page of this post said he thought he felt a sn...

Re: 96' 850 timing belt snapped
By, "by hand" do you mean with a socket on the crank? Cause I can move it all the way around without trouble, i aligned it with the water pump and am ready to put the cam cover back on.

Re: 96' 850 timing belt snapped
Hey hey, so after the magnet on a stick didn't work, I built a electro magnet and hooked it up to a car battery, strong enough to lift a 25lb dumbbell but no luck! I tried the magnet on a stick on last time, really pushing it in their until it got stuck. Right as I had given up (and completely given...

Re: 96' 850 timing belt snapped
Any thoughts on this, not all the tappets are up, even a few pairs that are for the same cylinder. In a set of 2, one is up (resisting force if i push on it) and the other is down, shouldnt both in a pair be in the same position?

Re: 96' 850 timing belt snapped
I already pulled the cam cover, it was one of those bolts that fell into the hole. I'll make sure but when it happened i was pretty sure it went there and i was taking a bolt out that was right beside the hole. So the cams, there was a slight bit cut out in a line on the journals, looks like welding...

Re: 96' 850 timing belt snapped
So I got a bendable magnet on a stick that's strong enough to pick up a 3/8 drive ratchet but it didn't catch the bolt (i checked a matching bolt and it was magnetic). I've been working on this for 3 months and I'm getting fed up. My valves are probably bent and I dont think I have the energy to rem...
