VIDA tells me "when replacing the bellows kits, the expander ring must also be replaced" for my S40, but there is not item called an expander ring in the parts list. Does anyone know to what this note is referring?
Thanks,
Cedric

Re: Headliner and door card fabric
We ended up doing something a little simpler than finding something to order. I happened to see a slate blue, foam backed headliner cloth at Michael's or JoAnn's, that seemed to match closely enough. We got some of that. The tricky bit is getting the headliner tray out of the car. We removed the two...

Handbrake mechanism not working, 06 S40 2.4i
I started down this path when replacing a worn rear hub that was making lots of noise. Replaced both rear hubs with new SKF units. Decided to replace rotors, pads, and fluid at the same time. The hub noise went away. Noticed that the new brake fluid was almost immediately dark. The next day I remove...

Re: Considering shimming 2006 V70 2.5T
Slots are there for thermal compensation. It will compensate somewhere else. I would not do anything to slots, besides cleaning them from calcium deposits. In fact I didn't shim my engine when I was rebuilding it. T2 has MLS gasket, it does not matter much, which one you will use. However, thinking...

Considering shimming 2006 V70 2.5T
My V70 is nearing 280k miles. The car runs well, but I now have a head gasket leak that I will fix myself and am considering shimming the block since I will be doing almost all of the work to get that done anyway. My hope is to drive the car a third of a million miles or more, because it seems prett...

Non-Volvo J2534 tool for VIDA
I have been using 1024D VIDA and a knock-off DICE for years quite successfully for diagnostics. They have been great. However, I now need to program some key/transponders. So I got a three-day subscription to the current VIDA only to discover that it refuses to talk to the car through my DICE. They ...

How to open throttle for compression test
My V70 drives just fine. I am just checking on it. How would one go about opening the throttle to do a compression test? After warming the engine, I pulled the fuel pump fuse while running to clear any fuel. I removed all five coils and spark plugs. I turned the starter over and pressure keeps build...

Mitsubishi, Rotomaster or Erie
I am considering replacing the turbo in my V70. I believe that it has been seeping a little bit of oil for a while. The three best options seem to be a Mitsubishi OE from FCP Euro, a unit from Rotomaster, or a used one from Erie Volvo with under 100k. Does anyone have any experience with the last tw...

Re: Need new stereo, want backup camera ideas
FWIW, a follow up... I bought a BOYO VT17IRTJ camera and paired it with a Sony XAV-AX500 stereo and it all works just fine. I did need to get a parking brake bypass thing. All bought from Crutchfield. Spliced a line into the reverse lights to power the camera. Took the rest of the wires up front and...

CAN-L Signal Low
After connecting Vida to S40, I see the attached. "CEM-DF04 CAN-L, low speed network Signal too low." All the things seem to function okay. Various searches suggest it is a short to ground which makes sense to me. So here is my question, is this something common to these cars, and is there...
