Re: 2004 S60 Lights won’t work

Oh, the sound you describe seems to be what you'd expect to hear from the Magnetti Marelli ETM which indeed is under the manifold for the turbo cars.

Could be that your 04 already has the newer throttle body, though.

Re: 2004 S60 Lights won’t work

There's a shunt for the low beams in the CEM, CSH4. Have you checked that one too?

Edit: Not sure if this applies to the 04, also the high beams are independent of the shunt... At least for the 02 V70 I have.

Re: Drain/relieve fuel prior fuel filter change? Topic is solved

Relieving the pressure is advisable. You will probably still spill fuel but it will be less. Working in a well-ventilated area is a good idea too, as the benzene in the fuel is carcinogenic. You want to inhale it or have it on your skin as little as possible. For that same reason, wear gloves.

Re: Petrol door won't lock

Back on point...is there somewhere to go besides the Volvo Corp to teach me how to use VIDA 2014D?...I get mad but I refuse to quit... You could always ask here  I guess it takes some trial and error and getting used to. My DICE has temporarily disappeared in the mess that is my basement but ...

Re: Petrol door won't lock

This is just to connect this to the previous discussion we had on the topic in this thread: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=89718 Basically, according to the wiring diagram, the filler flap locking motor is triggered by relay RMI21 which is connected to fuse F8. Fuse F8 ...

Re: Doubled Fuel Consumption Topic is solved

If the car is still running rich, you should be able to smell gas in the exhaust even after warmup, no? That'd be easier than pulling the plugs...
The average will only stabilize after you've driven the car for a while. Please let us know how things are then.
Good luck!

Re: [2001 V70 2.4T] Oscillating humming noise when driving

We bought our car at 60k miles with a failing front left wheel bearing. The right one still is fine after 60k more. I would leave the other in until it fails. I guess in legislations where you drive right, turning right happens more frequently which puts more load/stress on the left front bearing, c...

Re: Doubled Fuel Consumption Topic is solved

A leaky injector would lead to increased fuel consumption, but not to the computer showing it. I think the OP is referring to the value shown in the DIM, which the ECM computes from the opening time of the injectors. The case here seems to be that the ECM decides to inject surplus fuel. That's why I...

Re: Doubled Fuel Consumption Topic is solved

I suppose that if the sensor fails the way I described, the gauge would read low, as if the engine was cold, even when it's warm. When my thermostat failed I was pointed to the problem when pulling codes. I think there was no check engine light or warning message. Did you check for fault codes using...

Re: [2001 V70 2.4T] Oscillating humming noise when driving

Does it change when cornering? That would point to a wheel bearing starting to fail. If that's the case, it'll get worse until the noise is very pronounced when cornering and much less going straight.
As for the tires, to remove any doubt, you could change wheels if you have a second set.
