Re: 2004 2.5T inlet air temperature read incorrectly by cheap OBDII?

Frank two questions.
1. Gasoline or Diesel.
2. Is it a 2004 V70 R ?

It would help if you would get the engine type off the block.

Sorry for the delay.
1. Gasoline
2. No, a 2004 V70 2.5T A SR (per the Mahoney sticker) V70 2.5T FWD (per common description).
2b. US Spec.

The engine type ...

Re: 2004 2.5T inlet air temperature read incorrectly by cheap OBDII?

Thank you RickHaleParker for the diagram. I had a quick look and verified that my car DOES NOT have item #12 or #4. That section of duct does not have any sensors of any type. It does have a sensor at item #18, though mine is a combined Pressure/Temperature Sensor (Bosch 0261230090), which I have ...

2004 2.5T inlet air temperature read incorrectly by cheap OBDII?

Hello -

Over the last 8 months I have been futzing about with my wife's 2004 V70 2.5T FWD. Ever since I began the project I have been puzzled by unexpected inlet air temperature readings provided by my inexpensive OBDII reader. They read much higher than plausible numbers. For example, when outside ...

That seal material you was trying to dig out. Can you collect some and drop it in some Acetone? Some of the potting epoxies used in electronics have a chemical weakness ... Acetone. You might be able to dissolve the seal with Acetone without damaging the plastic case.

I didn't try at the time ...

2004 V70 Repair of 8671224 Brake Control Module, BCM.

2004 Volvo V70 2.5T FWD

Hello.

Posting this as a giving-back to the forum which has helped me out many times over the years.

Since last November I have struggled with intermittent brake, dead gauges, and transmission system errors. They come in flurries of great frustration several months apart ...

Re: 04 XC70 Transmission Service Required - where to start?

Thanks for the follow up ... how old was the battery?

Hi. Sorry - yes I should have mentioned that. The battery was six years old. Six years is a very very long time in southern AZ where batteries are tortured by the heat even if they are forgiven below freezing start duties.

The peculiar ...

Re: 04 XC70 Transmission Service Required - where to start?

In the spirit of giving back to this community from which I have learned a lot I shall describe my "Transmission Service Required" experience in the hope that it may save someone some frustration. The short answer is that all was solved when I replaced the battery.

About 10 days ago my wife came ...

Re: Poor warm starts & fuel odor

Hello.

Problem solved.

I replaced the garbage injectors (DOICOO) with OEM Bosch injectors. The ones I should have bought in the first place before I tried to go cheap.

My LTTRM (80 miles) is now -0.80% and there are no more starting problems.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. Now I know not to ...

Re: Poor warm starts & fuel odor

Thanks.

I considered that too, early on, but put the thought aside given the issue with actual and reported warm starts. The car knows the engine is at the right temperature as far as I can tell.

The engine seems to be running at nominal temperatures. The dash gauge shows the same movement as ...

Re: Poor warm starts & fuel odor

Thanks for the suggestion.

While the V70 is under my care I have a 20 mile trip each morning, the first 10 miles ~45-50 MPH with occasional traffic stops; the next 8 miles on an open highway ~75 MPH. If I reset values before I leave the house (clear codes, start from cold which is easy after an ...
