Re: P2 2001 V70 T5 Sudden Massive Electrical Failure
Yes - I recall that, and asking how it got corroded, and ignoring it, because I saw no signs of corrosion anywhere that I looked. And it was a 2007 XC90, so I didn't know whether it even applied to my P2. Also I assumed (wrongly) that you were referring to the connections at the main fuse panel near...

Re: P2 2001 V70 T5 Sudden Massive Electrical Failure
So what I saw in the 2006 were these pair of BFC's (Big Fat Connectors). Each had a pair of red 10-ish gauge wire. I think they bring power from the fuse panel beside the battery up to the the CEM, drivers door fuse panel, and under-hood fuse panels. The pic shows their location in my 2006, right un...

Re: P2 2001 V70 T5 Sudden Massive Electrical Failure
I sold it. As I was going through this, I was also keeping an eye out for a replacement vehicle, and came across a 2006 XC70 with under 100k, and super-well maintained. So I bought it. The buyer of the car in this thread was made aware of the issue - I even printed out a bit of this thread for him. ...

Yep - as stated about a half dozen times - all fuseboxes inspected thoroughly - all good...

Re: P2 2001 V70 T5 Sudden Massive Electrical Failure
If there's really two fuseboxes in the engine compartment, that totals 5, because there's also the cluster of 50A fuses back by the battery, which I have also checked. Maybe you're referring to an S70 or C70? (The V70 battery is in the back cargo area.) On my 2001 V70, I've not found two fuseboxes i...

Re: P2 2001 V70 T5 Sudden Massive Electrical Failure
I carefully checked all connections and fuses in all 4 fuse locations (under hood-both layers, drivers side, REM, and main fuses near battery). Are there more fuses in this car that I haven't found? So, I'm not sure what you mean by 'main bus' but I've been thinking along the lines you are and have ...

Re: P2 2001 V70 T5 Sudden Massive Electrical Failure
I disagree that it's the alternator. Even if the alternator died totally, I don't see how that'd cause a sudden electrical power loss, since the battery would have sourced power to all loads in the car for quite some time. I've spent a LOT of time studying the wiring diagrams, so if you can explain ...

Re: P2 2001 V70 T5 Sudden Massive Electrical Failure
So, here's the update. The issue has popped up 4 times. Each time, removing the battery cable basically 'reset' things back to normal. The issue hasn't occurred in the last 2 weeks over 400 miles of driving. The last thing I did was mentioned above - I removed and swapped the location of all the rel...

Re: P2 2001 V70 T5 Sudden Massive Electrical Failure
Hey any chance you've had any breakthroughs in the past few days? I have some very similar symptoms this morning. Right now my priority is just to get the car home, but then I think I will use your thread as a guide. Thanks! Your symptoms sound different. My issue always manifests as all the brake ...

Re: P2 2001 V70 T5 Sudden Massive Electrical Failure
OK, well I'm not going to be the noob that pops in with a problem, and never closes out the thread. But, I really don't have a resolution yet. Here's the entire mini-series: Summary: The car has had three occurrences of sudden electrical failure over the last month. These three instances were simila...
