Re: 91 240 Loss of Power; No Start
Review: '91 non-turbo 240 was running smoothly then started lost power; couldn't climb a hill but was able to sputter into a gas station ... and then no-start. Towed it to buddy's garage. Update: My mechanic and I have ruled out a lot of things ... he needed to get back to a project that pays (late ...

Re: 91 240 Loss of Power; No Start
Excellent - thanks for the advice guys. Car is still sitting at the shop ... I'll run into town tomorrow and check it out. Hopefully will be able to update tomorrow. I've owned the car since 91 so didn't inherit any bad maintenance. Appreciate all the possibilities but I can rule out the air filter....

Re: 91 240 Loss of Power; No Start
Sorry I didn't mention ... not a turbo model. But thanks for the quick reply.

91 240 Loss of Power; No Start
My '91 240 has been running like a top; then a couple days ago I was climbing a minor hill and had to shift down to 3rd to get to the top (usually climb it in 5th). I limped another 5 miles into town with significant power loss. Stopped at a gas station to check under the hood but couldn't start it....

Re: Yet Another ETM Thread
Booster Vacuum Ejector? Looks like part # 30665561 ... found it on FCP. Excellent - I like sub-$100 parts. Obviously needs to be replaced, and I would very much like this to be that magic bullet to get this vehicle mobile again. And ... going back to the original failure, I assume if this failed cat...

Re: Yet Another ETM Thread
OK, while you're LOL ... I'm not!!! Obviously it's a massive leak now, but it was just a hard-to-see crack before I went ahead & peeled it back. So now that's identified I'll look for the part(s) to square this away. Wouldn't hurt to check on all the other issues everyone has brought up as well.

Re: Yet Another ETM Thread
P1100173.jpg At least I'm tech-savvy enough to drop this pic in. For reference, this is on the driver's side going into the intake manifold. Looks like a sensor of some kind, and probably broke when I had this line laid back for removing the manifold. It was cracked when I found it, it easily peele...

Re: Yet Another ETM Thread
OK - previous input has triggered a thought. The car trouble started (no throttle response, bucking, etc) a day or two after I changed the plugs. Plug changeout was a simple job, but if the coilpacks are a potential trouble spot then might I have "jiggled" something that created a problem?...

Re: Yet Another ETM Thread
Yep ... things that make me go "hmmmm." When I had everything off (i.e. intake manifold, fan, etc) I was looking at all the wire with crumbling conduit. I did my best to inspect for any wiring damage but didn't bother to use the multimeter to test anything. I've now added conduit but now y...

Re: Yet Another ETM Thread
OK - thanks. I've read some of your other posts on troubleshooting ... suffice it to say I'm learning. And I'm starting to miss my 240 that my son absconded with. So ... with new plugs/ETM/MAF, new filters, etc, and with the vehicle still in the "I give up" mode, I've had the suggestions o...
