2002 S60: Brake issues and a strange steering problem

I've talked about my brakes here before. It all started when the right front brake would lock and not release. So off to the mechanic who told me that it looked as if the brakes hadn't been flushed in years upon years. I had bought the car from my former mechanic who assured me that he'd been mainta...

I found a local locksmith who'd cut the keys, knowing that he couldn't program them. There's a simple workaround for programming. I went to a junkyard and got a new ring antenna, cost me a few bucks. Programming parts?

A couple years back I had to replace the ETM. It had to be "programmed" to work with the car.

Apparently, ABS is the same way.

Why? What strange and mysterious things need to be "programmed"?

Is that a valid and sound technical reason that these things can't be plug-n-play?

Thanks. I'll try switching the coils.

Re: Ignition whine in speakers Topic is solved

This unit has a fat cable with a DIN plug on one end and something that looks like a mini centronics connector on the other end. I would assume that the cable has some shielding. How could I shield it? Wrap it in aluminum foil and ground the foil? Do you think that the interference is getting fed to...

Ignition whine in speakers Topic is solved

2002 S60 Base. I installed a Yatour YT M06-VOLHU to add a AUX port to my HU613, it also adds a virtual CD changer which uses an SD card. It plugs into the CD changer port and pulls power from the unswitched lead to the radio. Works fine .. . except. When the engines on, I get a whine in the speakers...

Re: Broken ignition lock and strange electrical issues

Why the alternator?

I suppose that I should have mentioned that even with the engine on, the windows aren't working. The mirrors don't work and neither does the sun roof.

Broken ignition lock and strange electrical issues

2002 S60. The ignition key was sticking and I was thinking, "I need to get a new ignition lock." Well, yesterday, it broke. I couldn't turn the key far enough to start the car but I could turn it far enough to unlock the wheel and shifter. It had stuck before so I turned the key back and forth about...

Re: 2002 S60: High beams and A/C

First sounds like a flasher relay fault Flasher relay or high beam relay? Assuming high beam relay, where's that located? The second might be normal latched AC operation , maybe a video of the exact issue would help clear that up. "Latched" A/C operation? I'll dig out the Super 8 camera and make a ...

2002 S60: High beams and A/C

2002 S60 non-turbo Okay, the two issues aren't really related except that it may be a computer issue. First the highbeams: When I pull the stalk back to flash the high beams, the lights just stay on and I have to flick again to get them to turn off. I'm not pulling past the detent. Second problem: W...

My first car with them was a 1971 Ford Torino. My issue is that it is a silly thing to put a button on the dash to drop the rear headrests.

Re: Anyone ever fit an interior trunk release?

On an estate you'll reach the boot easily from the front by folding the seats. Easily is a relative term. I'm really past the age to go climbing into the back of the car through the side doors. If you lock the car using the remote all the interior handles and lock switches are disengaged by the way...

Re: Anyone ever fit an interior trunk release?

As long as the central locking system is unlocked the trunk is unlocked and the button to open the trunk is between the tag lights. So a extra button inside to open the trunk is unnecessary. I didn't see that in the manual but that doesn't mean much. Thanks. If wasn't 11 PM and sleeting, I'd be run...

Need trunk key slot cover

The part is only a couple bucks but the nearest dealer is about 20 miles away and I don't want to pay $8 for shipping to get one.

Anyone have one of those covers for the trunk keyhole?

Anyone ever fit an interior trunk release?

Volvo seems to have a thing about trunks and hatch releases. My V70 has no way to unlock the tailgate if the central locking system isn't working. No key slot. So if you have a dead battery, you can't get to your jumper cables. My new-to-me 2002 has a key slot for the trunk but the manual says "use ...

Re: 2002 S60: Installing passenger power seat

I think your 2002 is similar to my 2005, which looks this ugly.. (from Alldata) Why have they done this to us? When I first got my V70 I pulled the radio out which meant that I had to disconnect the heater controls. Doing that gave me an ABS error. Why? The heater control is tied to the car so I ca...

So rather than the buttons controlling the seat motors directly, they tell the computer to move the seat?

2002 S60: Installing passenger power seat

I had a 2001 V70 which blew its head gasket last week. Two years ago, the head gasket went so I had the engine replaced and I don't want to go through that cost and expense again. My mechanic was selling a 2002 S60 for a customer, the price seemed good so I bought it. It's a base model, without fanc...
