Re: Flush coolant without a lift?

I know the spare tire jack isn't safe for something like this, I mentioned it only by way of saying that right now without a lift I have no way of doing anything under the car except crawling on my back. I'm not going to mess around trying to build makeshift ramps out of wood, I'd and up paying as m...

2007 xc70 Supposedly there are two drain plugs. I can sorta get to the one under the radiator, but I can't even see the one on the engine block with a flashlight and mirror. The only thing I have is the spare tire hand jack. Is it even possible to properly drain+refill the coolant on this car withou...

Pento Frost NF OK that looks to be a with-silica type. Says it's "bright blue" so I guess it's HOAT too? (They don't say). Doesn't look like this is popular here, I'll have to call around. Even though the tensioner/idler are 12-13 years old, they don’t really care about years. Just how many miles they’ve been run. FWIW, the filter in this car appears to be the thinner of the two at 1.5 inches thick (I don't think this car has the special air quality feature). The only text I can make out on the side is BEHR P0806001 but that doesn't appear to be a Volvo number.

The car actually warms up fairly fast, after around 2 miles of non-highway driving (assuming it's not 0F out). We try for longer drives at speed, but just getting to the highway is a bit of a hike and it's not always easy to budget a random 1 hour round trip.

Exact driving pattern varies slightly. We're using it as the primary errand-mobile as an excuse to keep it active, so it's driven down to one of a few different grocery stores once a week and the post office or town hall or some other place about once a month (1.5-5 miles each way, non-highway). Re: Very low use/low milage 2007 XC70, need upkeep pointers

It does have an ATF dipstick, but it's buried almost two feet down near the bottom of the engine. As far as I can tell, it's impossible to pull the dipstick out without first removing part of the wiring harness, a 2in diameter hose, and part of the radiator.

Re: Very low use/low milage 2007 XC70, need upkeep pointers

The belt kit runs for about $150 at Volvo. For the job, a knowledgeable garage can do it in less than 1 hour Most shops around here charge like $80-90/h for labor, which would put this at like $250. Are you SURE on this price? That seems extremely low and not in line with other cars in my experience.

We have a 2007 XC70 (AWD 5cyl turbo) that pretty much lives in a garage and is only driven a few short trips on weekends. It has 45k miles on it and the majority of that was early in it's life.
