Re: Interior Swap and Aftermarket Audio System Upgrade
Update Donor car interior is completely stripped other than center console. (saving that bit of fun for last) I just started work pulling the interior out of my running car. I have almost all the new components for my audio system upgrade: Pioneer head-unit, JBL DSP/amp combo, Infinity reference sp...

Interior Swap and Aftermarket Audio System Upgrade
Introduction I've lurked in this forum for many years but never had the courage to post anything besides a silly DICE-related question. Recently, I embarked on the most ambitious automotive-related project I attempted yet, and want to document my progress here. I don't think most of what I say will...

Well, I'm posting back here a year-and-a-half too late but I did get to the bottom of the problem. Turns out the car's electrical system was perfectly fine and my Chinese DICE unit is junk. I ran VIDA and later VDASH using my DICE unit on another S80 and had the same exact problem "finding"...

Check for electrical opens and shorts, which are the most common things that can take down a entire CAN bus. A short could be the wiring or a defective module. Thanks for the continued support! I'll keep poking around. My progress is slow, I've never done any electronic troubleshooting so I'm doing...

Re: Drain the intercooler
As far as I know, intercoolers never have drain access unless maybe if they are a water-to-air type. I don't know how much oil your runaway turbo shot into the intake, but I would, in your place, simply not worry about it if disassembly is a concern (time, money, etc.) for you. In time, the oil will...

Update: Messed around with the connectors on the CEM today. Didn't have enough time to get to all of them but from what I've seen so far I find this unlikely to be the problem. All the pins I saw were super straight and super clean. I don't have any water infiltration that has been present above the...

Re: No Communications with REM, DIM, CCM, etc. I doubt it...
Everything to the right of the CEM is on the same CAN bus. I would start by: 1. Pulling and cleaning the connectors on the CEM. 2. Check for evidence of water ingress on the CEM. 3. Check for opens and shorts on the CAN bus. 4. A electrical defect in any of the modules can pull down the CAN bus and...

Re: 04 s80 - specialist says don't touch ATF, but why?
For those who are curious, I completely changed my transmission (an Aisin 55-50SN) oil for the first time at ~135,000 miles and sent out the oil to a laboratory for analysis. This was the report from the tests: ATF report.jpg I do not yet have a comparable analysis for a clean oil or lightly used oi...

Vehicle : 2006 S80 (1st Gen) 2.5T FWD Some background : A few months ago I noticed the cabin air system was acting wonky: redistributing air to non-commanded locations, operating the blend doors randomly, not turning the AC off/on when supposed to. I took the car to my local Volvo dealership (I tru...

Re: Turbo Oil Drain Line O-Ring Recommendations
Is this video also suitable for a S80 2.8 T6 with a oil leak of the oil return? Probably not. I'm not familiar with the 6 cylinder models but I believe the 2.8 is the twin-turbo one. Try this post and go from there: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=61238&p=31370...
