An actual wire of ECM harness, or loose pin on ECM module? Regardless, thanks for updating the status. I had trouble starting when I removed ECM and re-inserted it without the special tool. I could tell that those plastic sliders weren't fully in original position, so I ordered the removal tool. I h...

Will have to likely replace the PCV system in the near future. Conducted the plastic bag test on the oil fill and it did not suck it in but that will have to be for a another day. I'm glad to hear that plugs and coils solved the misfires. My advice on PCV replacement is don't put it off too long. T...

I had to deal with oil on top of the valve cover when I swapped in an engine from a junkyard donor. I actually noticed the same oil pooling when the engine was still in the boneyard, but chalked it off to PO topping off without a funnel. Were there other codes in addition to cylinder misfires? The system on your S60 uses a physical thermometer probe and cycles compressor due to evaporator temp. I had considered replacing rod bearings on my '08 S60, which also had spun a bearing due to sludging. When I took the engine apart I noticed that all main bearings looked pitted. Rear transmission mount replacement Topic is solved

I'm breaking away from my other engine replacement threads to specifically address the topic of transmission mounts. I bought the Hutchinson set of engine/transmission mounts when I first got the car, so I'm going to put them all in with the 'new' engine. They all look rather straight forward, excep...

Re: Need some last minute encouragement before engine swap Topic is solved

I'd probably swap the oil pan pickup tube o rings, it's a hundred times easier with the engine out. Definitely on the list. Even before I discovered the spun bearing, I had purchased the oil pan gasket set and PCV kit. I'm also thinking about replacing cam and crankshaft seals while the engine is o...

I than would go for the XC or keep looking. All it would take is a nearly invisible hairline crack on the aluminum show up once the coolant pressurized to make you kick yourself. Where is the body damage on both cars. I would be wary of a hard front collision as the donor as the engine may be physically damaged from impact or ran without coolant. Aside from that I would go with the S60 as that engine has had considerably less stress that the AWD XC. You don't mention miles ...

I believe it's the 6th and 7th digits of the VIN that have to match in order to assure a compatible engine swap.

Good luck!
Thanks, looks like are suitable donors with "59" present in my VIN and the donors.

Need some last minute encouragement before engine swap Topic is solved

So, I've decided that I would rather swap the engine than try matching up the main bearing color codes, and that I don't have enough faith in 'one size fits all' Glyco bearing set. If you missed my sad story of spun bearings, here is the thread: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php...
