Re: Strut question ?

Yes, they still seem to be dampening in both directions I guess I was wrongly expecting them to react like a shock. This is first rebuild of strut for me and decided to reinstall original, FCP has a Mayle strut on sale for 50 bucks, but I decided against them. Does anybody have any experience or inf...

Strut question ?

I just got done breaking down my struts on '06 V70. One spring seat (metal collar) totally detached, the other one torn on the underside about 180 deg. Ordered new seats, mounts, and hardware. I tested the struts by pushing rod all the way down. One returns to full extension within a few seconds, th...

Re: To strut or not to strut

I turned the strut top nuts with wheels off the ground. Endlinks were recently replaced. Sounds like just spring seats might be the most economical way to go now. How about the inner hardware (bellows, bump stops). When you say 3/9 wear are you talking tie rod ends. Orangex, thank you for you advice...

To strut or not to strut

'06 V70 102k miles. I hit one our famous New York State pot holes couple of days ago and have noticed excessive noise in the right front wheel over irregularities in the road. i jacked the car up, no 12/6 o'clock play, very very minimal 3/9 play. Removed the top strut caps and checked nut tightness,...

Re: Volvo P2 used market

Totally agree with Abcate on that last post. Craigslist filled XC70/90's. I think a lot of non DIY Volvo owners hit the 100k wall and have the dealerships giving quotes of 3-5k to bring the vehicle up to snuff. Dealers dont want them as trade ins, that's where us DIY'ers can make out. 150.00 hr. lab...

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?

Added IPD poly inserts to the engine crossbar end mounts of my '06 Volvo V70. They definitely stiffen up the brace, a little more snap from start and no noticeable added vibration. For $10.95 you can't go wrong. Glenn

Re: Got a problem! Topic is solved

I decided to put my shoulder into, hoping not break the cable or release handle and luckily it popped open. Yup, I have the one hood strut/ no rear swaybar model. Hood stays up when up on ramps but on flat ground I've taken some good shot to head, that insulation pad underneath the hood isn't just f...

Got a problem! Topic is solved

I was doing a drain and fill on my transmission. With the long funnel and quart bottle I had sitting in it, it was above the horizontal plane of where the hood closes. I went to get another quart, wind blew, hood slammed shut, and now can’t open probably because of the upward pressure of everything ...
