Re: P80 Fuel Pressure Regulator Thread - Function Variations Sources DEC 2019
amazing - thank you for keeping an eye on this and for the link! I did end up getting the new (used) FPR installed and...it made no difference. Same issue as before of needing to crank the ignition 2-3x every time I start the car. Not sure if getting this new part would help. My mechanic that I reli...

Re: P80 Fuel Pressure Regulator Thread - Function Variations Sources DEC 2019
ok good to know. Found a great Volvo junkyard https://www.yelp.com/biz/de-la-huerta-auto-parts-duarte-2 which I'm going to on Saturday and they have a used FPR they are keeping on hold for me with the correct "T" shape and everything. Within seconds of calling them, the owner knew exactly ...

Re: P80 Fuel Pressure Regulator Thread - Function Variations Sources DEC 2019
Super helpful post, thank you! Yeah that's the right part! Here's my updates: So when I clicked on the "place order" link on the 2040-parts.com link, it said "part is no longer available." I called eEuroparts.com to see if they had the part, and they said it was discontinued. I a...

Re: P80 Fuel Pressure Regulator Thread - Function Variations Sources DEC 2019
not sure if this is the right place to post... I have a 1998 S90 that suffers from really hard starts. I have to turn the engine three times to start it. Car drives great once it's started. I'm in SoCal so possible climate is affecting it but not much. Also have the smell of gas emanating from somew...

Re: 1998 S90 Cold Start problem
Your fuel pressure has a slow leak. 1. It could be a fuel line or fuel rail with a slow leak. 2. A leaky fuel pressure regulator bleeding fuel back to the tank. 3. Leaking fuel injectors. Trace dye would find external leaks but not internal leaks. Thanks. So next step is take it to the mechanic, te...

and thanks for this tidbit! Will stick with the 15 second trick until I get this figured out.RickHaleParker wrote: ↑10 Nov 2018, 06:08 The wait 15 seconds then crank won't hurt anything but long cranks contribute to premature failure of the starter and battery cables.

Re: 1998 S90 Cold Start problem
1. Fuel pressure issue or 2. Starter/Relay issue But now, it appears his story has changed, "doing long-term damage to the car by trying to start it up every morning with it being unable to turn over? " What needs to be done is to touch a hot wire to starter's solenoid-terminal...keyword ...

The wait 15 seconds then crank won't hurt anything but long cranks contribute to premature failure of the starter and battery cables. Turn over means the starter does crank the engine. "unable to turn over" would mean it starter does not turn the engine over. I thought you had a crank but...

Re: 1998 S90 Cold Start problem
Alright, put in Sea Foam a month ago, have switched to only Top Tier gasoline. Problem persists. What are next steps I can try? Also, am I doing long-term damage to the car by trying to start it up every morning with it being unable to turn over? Should I instead be doing the "turn on dash ligh...
