Well now.....Checked my records and new battery was installed Jan 19, so just under a year old. Lives in a heated garage. And, as I suspected, after draining off the surface charge, voltage stabilized at 12.54V, so nearly 100%.

Well now.....just checked my records: new battery 1/17/19. So just under a year old. Heated garage. I expect battery will test out fine, but will undertake to determine state-of-the-charge soon, just to eliminate this possibility. Thanks.

Battery was replaced (not a cheapie) within the last 3 years, so I doubt this is contributary.

I absolutely recommend rustproofing if you live in salt country. I strongly recommend Corrosion Free if you can find an applicator near you. Google them. Odor and drip free, non film forming. Creeps into seams, cable sheaths, etc. I have it done every 2 years. Fluid Film or Krown seem to be the best...
