Faulty VSS causing flashing arrow?
Hello all, I've been chasing the flashing arrow on my 1997 850 GLT Automatic. Problem first showed up after a long trip through Montana. I stopped to check the coolant level as it had a small leak on the coolant line sent back to the overflow tank. When I tried to start driving the car went into lim...

Re: Speedometer not working and VSS A code
Thanks everyone,
Upon closer inspection the wiring of the cluster I tried to swap in was a bit different. I threw in the old cluster and sure enough the VSS code is gone and all guages were working again excluding the odometer (chipped gear).

Speedometer not working and VSS A code
Hello everyone, I know there are some related topics to this out there but I haven't been able to find what I'm looking for so maybe time to start from scratch. Car: 1995 Volvo 850 Turbo Problem: Speedometer and Odometer on 1995 Volvo 850 cluster do not work. Everything else on cluster does function...

Re: Cams not turning after cam cover install
I just thought I would wrap this up. The car is now running very smooth. Misfires I'm guessing were coming from a weak spark due to a poorly charged battery. I threw a new battery in the car and a and it is now running very well. Any rough idle has been mended by securing all vacuum lines associated...

Re: Cams not turning after cam cover install
Tried starting up today and she lives!!! No CEL, no misfire, running smooth. Not sure what changed other than a full charge on the battery. I'm suspect of a failing alternator, but no biggie.

Re: Cams not turning after cam cover install
Update: I installed the new head with matching cover and cams. Ran really well on startup for a day, but on maiden voyage had the car die on me and now has a misfire on 2 cylinders. Tried new plugs gapped at 0.028 but misfire continues. I'll be cleaning the injectors and inspecting wires along with ...

Re: Cams not turning after cam cover install
Haha oh man, I'm getting pretty good at doing that. I have the cover off right now. The original cover was left at the JY months ago. I'm thinking at this point my best and cheapest option will be to grab another head from the yard off a turbo car and keep everything the same as it was in the car I ...

Re: Cams not turning after cam cover install
I've tried both and get no movement at all. Without the belt on, the crank turns just fine but when it's attached to the cams I get nothing. I had a 10mm socket on the bolts that attach the cam cog to the shaft, and put a good sized strap wrench on the cams cog to try and turn and get nothing. I def...

Re: Cams not turning after cam cover install
I lubed the journals in the head and cover. Do I need to be lubing the lobes of the cams as well?

Re: Cams not turning after cam cover install
Thanks precopster, Yeah, I seem to remember I did. I had pulled the cover with no issues on one car and while pulling the head off the same car I had a cam roll on me and crack a journal on the left side. The cover from the car I found the head I am trying to put in was already gone. I should add th...
