Thanks for the help, everyone. Fuel pump relay was fine. Culprit was the ignition coil. Car started right up once I got it all back together.

Pull all the plugs and ground them to the top of the engine. Forgot to mention, you might want to pull the fuel pump relay so you aren't spraying petrol. Have someone crank the engine while you watch the sparkplugs. Look for a strong spark, consistency, and make sure the firing order is correct 1-2...

Unknown... coils do fail at times, so if that's the problem, it might have just let go, or you smacked it, or something's loose and got jiggled just the right way. If you used the Haynes manual for the wire order on the distributor it is dead wrong, the .PDF Volvo manual is wrong as well.
