Re: Change to synthetic?

I don't have to worry about hot, gotta worry about cold! This is Volvo recommendation: For me the only advantage to synthetics is it can with stand more heat in fact Harley bikers with V twin engines running through Nevada in the summer engines will act like they are locking up without it. But for ...

Re: Change to synthetic?

I changed mine to synthetic at 150K, and I have never done anything better for the car. I used 10W-30. No leaks, no oil consumption, and I could instantly tell a huge difference in how smoothly the car runs. Plus I don't have to change it as often! :) Thanks for the input. What brand do you use? --os

Re: Change to synthetic?

You should be fine. You can use something like Mobil 1 High Mileage which apparently works pretty well according to some users. Although some will day... you got the miles already. If you've been using dino the whole time, why not just stay? I myself think synthetic is worth it though, especially w...

Change to synthetic?

I have a 96 850 GLT with the B5254 S engine. It has 164k miles. I just finished the first home oil change. Used a dino Pennzoil 10W 30 and a Bosch (couldn't find a Mann). For the next change, is there any risk in go to a synthetic? I've read that switching may lead to leaks. Right now, the car doesn...

AM was fine, as were cd's. I could only get one fm station. I checked and replaced everything, and the only thing that worked was another head unit.
Thanks for the info, everyone.

Re: 850 GLT 1996 FM Radio Problem

Unless the radio is just plain bad the only thing I can think of is that the antenna drain is plugged up. It is a kinda of a PITA to get to but if you remove the side panel on the driver's side of the trunk it will reveal the antenna. On the bottom of the antenna there is a drain hose. Make sure th...

850 GLT 1996 FM Radio Problem

I just bought a 96 850 GLT. We had a severe thunderstorm yesterday and now when I turn on the radio, I get nothing but static on FM for a few minutes and then reception is fine. During the time with the FM static, both the CD player and AM radio operate normally. Anyone have any ideas? BTW, love the...
