Re: Hood release cable replacement

All my P80 cars have spare cables, from bicycle brakes, on the hood latches. Do not want to be stuck with this problem.

Thanks for closing it up!

Junkyard parts are hands down the best troubleshooting tools.

Re: 1996 850 - P0300 & P0302 + flashing CEL

Sure you make good points. Dist cap is less fragile than you think maybe but I hear you. Usually a blown cam seal means pretty bad misfires, like the car shuts off when driving, that's why I would re-seat it. But I guess the main thing is just to see whats up - maybe the seal is leaking but not blow...

Re: 1996 850 - P0300 & P0302 + flashing CEL

If you're going to wait to replace the cam seal, buy one from FCP or another online vendor. That's your best bet anyway. And only use Corteco (or Volvo) brand cam seals. Also inspecting the cap is a good start but go the extra 10% and inspect the cam seal itself. And put it back in if its blown out,...

Did the spring seat bust through? Usually hits the hood.
"Usually" hits the hood??? I've heard of that a couple times but never actually seen it happen, And I've seen a couple dozen busted. P80 spring seats.

Would be interested to see pics of the strut hitting the hood.

Re: '98 S70 with P0300, P0303, P0301, P0305 codes

Since it has coil wires it has to be the P80, of the two choices. ... Actually the post mentions coil packs not coil wires , so it is much more likely the P2, of the two choices. But the post is not crystal clear about some things so I'd rather not assume anything and just ask which/what car, the a...

Re: '98 S70 with P0300, P0303, P0301, P0305 codes

The description so far doesn't sound much like a classic no-start. The car has stutter and poor running and difficulty starting - could easily be fuel or especially ignition.

Yes we need more info.
