Yeah... really doesn't make much of a difference... Volvo Cars is still the original entity in Sweden, it's not as if it's staffed by Ford. Mazda vs Volvo S40: same platform, but the buck stops there. What I'm hoping for in a theoretical merger between B-V-MW (MW is for Motor Works so BVMW makes mor...

Volvo to buy Volvo?

http://www.autoblog.com/2007/06/20/ab-volvo-to-buy-back-volvo/ Just a few weeks earlier, there was the BMW to buy Volvo rumor. Now, what if Volvo Trucks were to buy back the cars division they sold almost 10 years ago? AB Volvo to buy back Volvo? Posted Jun 20th 2007 5:05PM by John Neff Filed under:...

I've just had a black rubber "neck" replaced that probably bridges the connection between the fuel cap and the tank itself... (1992 960). That might be a likely cause... I can smell gas vapor when the car is running. Yes, money being vaporized into the thin air...

Mathematically, the wheels on the 940 have 25mm offset for wheels that are 6 inches wide. The 850 turbo wheels have an offset of 43 mm and is 6.5 inches wide. The net effect of fitting 850 turbo wheels onto a 940 is a 24 mm reduction in INNER clearance (closer to the strut, probably will hit it if t...

Pardon me, but if you stop at red lights in intersections, have you noticed bars of the same color where your tachometer indicator has been regularly visiting? ;-) The flat spot you describe is because your car has a low torque peak at around 3,300 rpms. Naturally aspirated cars have trouble breathi...

Successful Brake Booster Fitment! [960]

Today I replaced my brake booster on the '92 960. Appearantly it was damaged by long term usage of a steering wheel lock (by the previous owners) that also "lifts" the brake pedal, pulling on the brake booster itself. The booster still responds to vacuum input and works properly, but there is some l...

I agree on the posts acknowledging that the white block engines are more prone to issues here and there - and that the red block would score more points for dependability. However, the white block engines are more modern, produces more power, and weigh less, and are smoother to run than the straigh-...

The Manual package is awesome, lots of "common sense" troubleshooting and diagnose by symptoms, (some of which even applicable to the B6304)... thanks :-)

Actually, a failing PNP would lock the car in 3rd gear. The car is slow to move, but the tach rpm is inhibited by the torque converter's stall speed, around 2,100 engine rpms. Good luck!
