Re: 855 T-5 97 RHD Auto high fuel usage

When we convert it to US measurements, it comes out to almost 19mpg...... Remember, a UK gallon, is an imperial gallon (5 quarts instead of 4). The '93 got about 30mpg (US) Australia and Britain use exactly the same measurements and 29-30 m.p.g from a T5 Volvo sounds O.K to me. My T5 does about tha...

Re: What ECU?

Gotcha. Have you tried unplugging the MAf sensor and seeing if it can run any better? That's probably the easiest place to start. The too-rich condition sounds to me like it could be either that, or a bad coolant temp sensor. I have had both, and they both did similar things. The coolant temp senso...

Re: What ECU?

Your car has a Bosch Motronic 4.3 ECU. Any 94-97 850 Turbo has the same ECU. Before you go blaming the ECU, what problems are you having exactly? What other parts have you ruled out, if anything? Thanks for the information, however I'm not blaming the ECU as being the problem. From the symptoms the...

What ECU?

I'm currently experiencing a stalling and lack of power problem but, before I make any serious attempt to rectify the problem, I'd like to source the various bits and pieces that may, either individually or collectively, be causing this problem. Obviously this must include the current ECU in my vehi...

Re: '95 850 T5:- Engine coolant temperature sensor

About how long does it take your car to warm up to "operating temperature"? I would guess about 4 to 5 minutes as I've never actually timed it but the temperature gauge needle steadily rises to the 3 o'clock position and remains there without any deviation. In my case, the ECT displayed temperature...

'95 850 T5:- Engine coolant temperature sensor

I'm trying to establish if the instrument panel temperature gauge will appear to work normally if the engine coolant temperature sensor (ECT) is faulty. My temperature gauge seems to operate O.K, but I suspect the ECT is not sending a correct signal to the engine management system, which gives the e...

Re: '98 S-70. gasing up w/ engine running: fault code?

Yikes :!: Had no idea that gassing w/ the engine running was so dangerous! :o Will be sure that engine is OFF when gassing up from now on. Thanks for the tip. Another absolute no no that can cause considerable consternation is using, on a dark night, a cigarette lighter to try and see how much fuel...
