Re: 94 850 won't start

These cars have hydraulic lifters, and occasionally they 'bleed down' for some unknown reason. The effect of a 'bled down' lifter is no compression in that particular combustion chamber. Obviously if the engine only cranks but doesn't fire, it will take a long time for the cranking engine to build u...

Re: Fuel delivery problem

I ordered a pump from HFFS and took mine off. Now the problem, I put 12 volts to the pump and it runs fine :( . Help! When you say it runs fine, are you saying the fuel pump seems to be running O.K or that you have actually tested the pump is putting out pressure about 40 p.s.i? Just the fact the p...

Re: PVC system

Thanks for all the help so far - I appreciate it very much. The vehicle is due for its next service in about 300 kilometres (180 miles) and I will ask the garage to give it a full tune-up then. Yes, I agree a faulty coolant temperature sensor would fit the bill (i.e. signalling the EMS the engine is...

Re: PVC system

I'm trying to systematically go through the various items that might possibly cause a fuel rich situation at acceleration and deceleration. So far I've cleaned the MAF sensor and the injectors and changed the air cleaner. The next thing I'm going to tackle is to thoroughly clean the throttle body to...

PVC system

My '95 T5 has developed a distinct, annoying hesitation when the accelerator is depressed firmly. It then recovers and runs smoothly. Also when the accelerator is released, the engine seems to nearly cut out. Also, when the vehicle first moves off, the instantaneous fuel consumption on the computer ...

Re: Best year for an 850

The 98 70 series was an 850 redesigned on the outside for the most part. That would be my vote. Next after that would be a 95 because it's got the OBDI computer up front and OBDII port in the interior. Best of both worlds - you can check and clear codes without any special equipment. Also the 93's ...

Re: It really saves gas and gives power!

However, now that I am back at school I drive almost exclusively in the city where I get about 15mpg, I use about 18 gallons of gas and drive between 200-300 miles per fill up. And I find that a bit puzzling - the worst I've ever got out of my T5, no matter how hard it was driven, is about 20 m.p.g...

Re: It really saves gas and gives power!

Volgrrr, I don't follow. There most certainly are an infinite number of things that lead to a certain mpg. I'm glad you're happy for me, although I think you're being just a tad sarcastic. Polskamafia mjl my old buddy, I've come to the conclusion it must surely be an American thing. The point I've ...

Re: It really saves gas and gives power!

KEWROCK, simply because you can't get 33 mpg does not by any means that other people can't. If you have read over this entire site then you have read countless threads about people getting 30+ mpg. And you are completely overlooking the number of people claiming they don't get anything of the sort!...

Re: Molyslip and Ceramic Oil

Interestingly I was curious about what a 0.5 micron particle would be, apparently it's as small as most infectious bacteria: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Why_is_0.5_micron_particle_size_reference_used_in_the_classification_of_clean_rooms So yeah, I'd definitely say it's safe as far as passing through ...
