Re: AC compressor cycles; '93 850; only seeing one port

Oh I totally disagree with you there. They may fail prematurely with their rusty evaporators but when they're working properly the A/C is as cold as any car I've been in and that's a whole bunch of cars When it's nice up here in July, I normally roll down the windows just after I start the car to h...

Re: AC compressor cycles; '93 850; only seeing one port

I do not believe a charge is needed, but do now know why the compressor would cycle, and why there is only one port. There is no high pressure port on 850/70s. And the compressor will cycle a lot if you just start the car and let it idle. The 6nm cap is the dust cover for the low pressure port, whe...

It is a well known joke. There are 2 different part numbers for the wheels, one for left and one for right side. The wheels are in fact the same! Volvo has no directional wheels that I am aware of, at least in the USA.

When mine did that on my 1995, I found out that the aluminum strip on the back side of the bumper had bent. As you know, the rear most clip is held on by a torx screw, and this clip is no longer grabbing the rail. The other clips should not be easily moved, front to back. You could try to bend the r...

For the 850s, the return fuel line can be disconnected at the fuel rail. The 98 70s have the return line routed under the injector rail and then to the front of the manifold, requiring the rail to be removed from the manifold. Whith what I know now, I could probably do it in 5-6 hours instead of the...

Give your not-local dealer a call. Given the VIN, they can cut you a new one. The price is not THAT bad, but 140K miles or 7 gallons of gas is a lot for a separate trip.

I tried white grease on my sunroof hinges and wound up wiping it all off and using "3in1" oil. The white lithium grease was too solid in the dead of winter. Don't forget the forward hinges.
Do not use WD40 as a lubricant. It is an oil based cleaner and will eventually dry up.

I just finished changing my oil separator box and lines using the FCP kit. The manifold gasket they sent me was the wrong kind, I had to go to the dealer and pay $20 for a new one. All of the hose clamps were of the one-time use variety. Better off getting the screw driver type. I have a PDF with pi...
