Re: The craziest problem with 96 Volvo 850 T5

What can cause such a sporadic problem? I don't trust the car at all. Oxide build up on the connectors. Clean the connectors on the TPS and the ECU with electrical contact cleaner or MAF sensor cleaner. Corrosion under the wiring insulation. Inspect the ends of the wires, look for corrosion that ma...

Re: Decipering OBDII readers: questions

8 years ago, I used the ELM327with Torque app on a cross country trip in my 850 base. It was fine for what I needed, accurate speed, MPG, a couple of other things. Now, I'm looking at the ELM327 again and found this recent post by esl-97-850-T5 on what appears to be the latest fully featured 850 up...

Re: Smoking dipstick, could it be bad rings?

Okay wanted to update everyone following this thread. Pulled everything apart last night and as someone had suggested the 5/8" hose did get crushed overtime. So I replaced that hose splicing in a 3/4" copper barbed plumbing L immediately on top of the oil catch can. This should allow the hose to not...

Re: Herman and Operation 30MPG

I also replaced the brake pads while I was in there and attempted to replace the brake lines but the brake lines are seized at the connection between the flexible hose and the hard line. Looks like I'll have to cut the hard lines and reflange them with some fresh nuts. I will be honest I hate makin...

Re: Volvo Findings! (What have you found on Craigslist?)

Yeah I agree. But I can't watch another Californian crush a R model without trying to get these saveable puppies elsewhere adopted. It's really unfortunate, because in CA, they just want to sell the car to the state for $1k for them to crush. I get that it makes more financial sense than selling it...

Re: Volvo Findings! (What have you found on Craigslist?)

Another one that isn't mine. Found on Facebook, located in Chicago IL. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/642580892909704/ Little steep in that condition. I'll have to watch how long that lasts. Yeah I agree. But I can't watch another Californian crush a R model without trying to get these s...

Re: Herman and Operation 30MPG

Few things have happened over the last month. New brakes, new radiator fan, and new brake lines. Also with my new gig at Instacart there's been a lot of this happening: 20190802_102101.jpg Thinking I might want to invest in some overload springs this fall! My orders for groceries take up my en...
