Re: New member, avid DIY'er now with two XC's

Next i need to find the source of engine to chassis vibration. The two torque mounts are new. I'm in no hurry to replace the one next to bevel gear but while i was working on timing belt i noticed one under the harmonic balancer. It look looked pretty beat up and fairly easy to change so i might try...

Re: New member, avid DIY'er now with two XC's

unfortanetly I did not. Most of the work was done in the very cold dark. I have one of the camshafts but its pretty standard. I usually do take a lot of photos on stuff I do but since I went by a couple existing how-to's online I didnt make a new one. And the bevel gear took a full quart of syntheti...

Sorry about the typo. Glad the second MAF fixed it. Ours has been better too since we put the fuel cleaner in.

Re: New member, avid DIY'er now with two XC's

After work yesterday I installed the bevel gear and timing belt kit. Went rather smooth, took about 2 1/2 hours in the 19° weather in my driveway. I had a few hangups: -There's a little sensor nipple or something under the crank, I had the timing belt around it and that was making it appear that the...

Re: New member, avid DIY'er now with two XC's

Just ordedde a 10 pack of Oil Filters, a filter wrench, extra filter housing, some drain plugs and washers from IPD. No more fighting with oil changes. The last change on my XC90 i stripped the head off the drain plug. Somehow it was torque to like 250ftlb, I had to replace the plug with an O2 senso...

Re: New member, avid DIY'er now with two XC's

I picked this forum because it looked the most technical, and every time i search google for info this one comes up I come from building Subaru's. My 400hp Forester is getting to 'unstable" for daily use so I bought the XC70 so I can pull all the stops out on the Forester. I picked the XC70 because ...

Re: New member, avid DIY'er now with two XC's

I went ahead and removed the timing belt on the XC70 last night, the only hold up was finding something to fit in the star bit serpentine belt tensioner. After reading all the horror stories about belt breaks around my mileage range, i didnt want to gamble. That and my buddy pretty much makes a livi...
