Add only plain 134a. Don't use can with oil, conditioner, etc. Buy a patch cord with a gauge and a can of plain freon like picture. Volvo remade the 850 Sport Wagon!

The new V90 is wonderful but definitely not sporty like the 850 wagon was. I have had a new V60 for a couple of days now as a Service loaner and it really reminds me of my 98 V70. Only a bit smaller, but handles and drives way better! I love the front end! It's made in Sweden too! Check the vin# sta...

That is right about the 4 speed GM in the S80, very few complains. Perhaps the weight on the XC90 is what was going over the transmission specs. Expansion valve is likely bad. Replaced my 04 S80s last year. I'm assuming your car is not leaking freon that fast. The S80 would work intermittently and always while in for service naturally... if it's a freon leak, Abscate is right it will just have to be leak tested. June

Re: 2000 V70 XC ejecting coolant at return tank

"White block" is a common term referring to Volvos equipped with a Modular engine. The previous engines "4 cylinder" used in 240, 740, 940 Volvo cars had red paint on the block, so they were dubbed the "red block" engine. The all aluminum block used in the Modular engine series was not painted so th...

A few years ago someone was doing a manual swap. Don't remember how that turned out. I would closely look at the coolant. If it looks/ smells old then good. If it looks brand new then consider doing a exhaust gas test to be sure no head gasket issue exists. That's a must with any Volvo Modular engin...

Re: ISO post that specifies the mods done to the Volvo 850 wagon for races

Also I remember a film at the time talking about the custom built cylinder head. It alone was quite a feat! Emissions regulation probably made the design, even a lesser version impossible to sell. ie. like the dealer installed STAGE 2 455 Buick. Even in 1970, you ordered a STAGE 2 GS455 it arrived f...

That seems a bit much since a drain bolt is provided on the bottom of the housing for drainage visibly used in the video. I know my 89 740 also had a drain plug as I recall seeing the oil draining out of it during a service. Yes i had to insist the oil to be changed out. That was long ago, but the t...

Replacing main bearings is a pretty big operation. There is artistry in the measuring and gauging of a new set of bearings. ...

. The interior is a little worn that's for sure especially the driver's seat. I've removed every door panel and put adhesive on every part that had the old dried out factory adhesive, which was the entire panel. Every Volvo I have owned called for 5W30 oil. The turbo white blocks called for 10W30 when the stable temperature was above 86°F. 0W30 definitely sounds light for a 300K engine. Just curious to see what fixes the problem. June

If you stomped the breaks with your full force at speed, than yes perfectly normal no matter what tires or road conditions the ABS should kick in. If your stopping distance is long with working ABS during panic stop, that is tires or aftermarket pads, or a combination of the two. June
