Re: Anyone use a cordless ratchet for your maintenance?

I've been thinking about getting one for a while now. Looks like it would save a lot of time versus swinging that ratchet back and forth. Just not sure I do enough work to justify the price of one.

Aftermarket Conical Filter Reccomendations

I need to replace the filter that is currently on the ram air intake installed by the PO. I'm not a fan of oiled cotton filters and would like to find a cellulose / paper based filter to replace it. Unfortunately, I've been coming up pretty empty. I need a flanged filter with and ID on the flange of...

Re: 1999 S70 "AWD" Rescue Thread

Another fun filled day. Boost gauge started behaving weird. Then car cut out along with lights, boost gauge, and dash. Fuses were blown for the immobilizer, dash, light switch, and headlights. Popped out the light switch and was greeted by perhaps the worst wiring job I have ever seen. Like seriousl...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today? (now Sticky!!)

My 2 Volvos are getting a much needed bath and wax today. Both are suppose to be black, but one looks more like brown and the other yellow.

Re: 1999 S70 "AWD" Rescue Thread

It's been a while, so lots of updates. 1) Got the hood opened and an emergency release cable installed. 2) Installed new struts and all new hardware. Never messed with a spring compressor before, and can't say I ever want to again. Even with all the proper tools for once, it took me about 8 hours sp...

Re: Loaner Tool - Volvo part #: 9995497

I ended up paying a Volvo indie to do this job on my then 250k mi S70, and I'm glad I did. Even with all the proper tools and experience at their disposal, he said it took them over 12 hours just to get the old links out. $500 I do not regret spending. Go with Lemforder. This is seriously a job you ...

Re: The second heater core...

I'm hoping this logic rings true. Turned the heat on last night and my clothes still smell like antifreeze. Should probably take care of this now and not wait until winter, though I am tempted to bypass it until the fall.

Re: How do you prevent wheel/ tire theft?

The best method is to park in a secured garage or somewhere well lit and public. It's easy to get lug keys, or in some cases just forces keyed lugs off. If some one really wants your wheels, there really isn't much you can do about it if you park your car outside.

Re: Gauge to check fuel pressure on 1999V70

In a pinch, a 99 cent tire pressure gauge can be used (and then thrown away).

Re: 1999 S70 "AWD" Rescue Thread

From a stop, it boosts to and holds 6 psi. Only spikes during kickdown from 4 to 3, weird. Neither side released. The pop I heard was the cable popping out of the latch. I'm going to practice technique on my T5 to prepare for round 2 next week. Considering the driver's side headlight was replaced as...
