Re: Rear engine mount - sway bar in the way
There's a pretty good video on YouTube by SiRobb that shows how to do it. You're just going to have to get a bit creative to get the socket between the sway bar and up to the bolt, I used a standard 3/8 Craftsman 13mm socket and u-joint and extension, it fits......but just barely. I'm wondering if y...

Re: 2001 V70XC viscous coupling to permanent 4wd
It also might be easier to weld the viscous coupler together and run the stock unmodified propshaft with all other components installed and present but then.................why not just make the existing AOD AWD functional by fixing it? Re: 2001 V70XC viscous coupling to permanent 4wd
I think it would be a challenge on two accounts; first you would need to couple the propshaft to the rear differential obviously, that may involve another joint or support bearing to prevent vibration, also some fabrication on the coupler.....I cannot recall how the VC ordinarily connects to the dif...

Re: Rear engine mount - sway bar in the way
You need a real thin walled socket, then it will fit with a short u-joint immediately after the socket and a 8 inch extension. You might as well also disconnect the torque bar across the engine on the top and the right passenger side engine mount because you will need to jack the engine up a little ...

Re: Towing with an S60
That says a lot about the car and it’s abilities, that boat must have meant a lot to you to pull it out of Ontario in severe winter conditions on a trailer with no brakes. I can’t help but ask; why wouldn’t you go the safe and legal route and get a trailer with brakes? Or rent a 3/4 ton truck and pu...

The problem has slowly gotten worse over the course of the summer, not specific to any particular repair or part replacement. Re: Towing with an S60
Should be an interesting trip, just make sure of a couple things: tongue weight should be 9 to 15 percent of trailer weight so about 300lbs. This will be extremely important with a trailer that heavy. Also trailer brakes will be required for any trailer over 2000lbs or greater than half the tow vehi...

Re: Alignment issues
I'll check the spring seats this evening, the car has 276,000 kms on the original subframe bushings so that may also be the cause. I put some good used OEM struts in this summer after a bad experience with aftermarket Chinese quick struts.

Alignment issues
My 03 XC 70 is having some annoying steering/ alignment issues that I'm having a hard time isolating. That looks like a pretty clean wagon, nice find! I don't know if it would be necessary to replace the fuel pump, probably just the large o-rings need replacing and cleaning out that area. I often wondered about that guage too. Mine sits at 12 o’clock on the hottest summer days with the A /C on in the parking lot for 1/2 hour at idle. If you’re that far into it take the knuckle off and press it in with the bench vise. Or a ball joint press. Mine sucked in pretty easy with the bolts but I think they were changed once before. You really don’t want to screw up these threads!

Re: 2006 2.5T AWD - Stage Zero Preventative Maintenance - Angle Gear, Haldex, and Rear Diff
You might want to look into changing the three motor mounts at that mileage, not too bad of a job. I had a collapsed passenger side and a split rear motor mount that I just changed. You couldn't see the split until it was off the car. Other than that, emergency brake shoes are probably worn out or d...

I would lean toward 2 things that are pretty easy and cheap to rule out. Most likely your CV Axle(s). Get a couple good OEM ones from the auto wreckers. If they are good, the vibration goes away, if they are bad, the vibration might change in frequency/ speed/ etc. Also they are really easy to chang...

Has it been getting worse over time? Most likely a CV shaft. The depth of the passenger side shaft is determined by the bearing retainer and 2 bolts. The passenger side shaft passes all the way through the bevel gear and into the Transmission, it can’t come out unless the bearing retainer fell off a...

Also, Volvo can supply a spline lube for the assembly, which would be compatible for the transmission output shaft, which is a mild interference fit. I'll let you know how it turns out. Welding was the cheapest and strongest option so thats why it was chosen, plus you don't need a "good" BG spline or collar sleeve to do it. Motor mounts after 275000 Kms.
I replaced the 3 lower motor mounts today, not a bad job, took about 4 hours working slowly and tripping over dogs in the garage. The right mount was pretty bad, the other two hydraulic mounts looked ok but the front one was separated as shown in the picture. The rear mount was a little tricky to ge...

If its the black one on the back by the seat base it will release the upper seat to fold up towards the steering wheel. There should be one on the drivers and passenger seat. Send a picture so I know which lever you're talking about.

Just to add, You don't even have to take the valve body off if you don't want to. Many people just take the solenoids off and rebuild them. Re: 2003 XC 70 AW 55 Linear Solenoids
Should I buy a VB gasket kit or does it come with the Transgo kit? Also, how long does it take to get the VB out roughly? Thanks, Kevin.

2003 XC 70 AW 55 Linear Solenoids
I have determined that I need to clean up my linear solenoids, I've changed the B-4 Servo, flushed the fluid and changed the torque mounts, and updated the transmission software. Although these things improved the overall performance of the transmission, some symptoms remain that would point to the ...

Re: Intermitant no start and a P0014
Turns out it needed a new fuel pump!

Re: Intermitant no start and a P0014
I have voltage at the light Blue wire at the fuel pump harness but no life from the pump. Also the ground is good. Should there be any voltage from the other 5 wires that plug into the fuel pump? Does anyone have a wiring diagram of this connector and pump? Thanks.

Re: Intermitant no start and a P0014
K thanks, will do tomorrow. Also, I have a p0014 code. I read somewhere that if the Camshaft position sensor is failed the ECU would prevent fuel pump operation if it doesn't recognize the engine turning, any truth to that?

Re: Intermitant no start and a P0014
I checked the fuel pump relay, swapped it with the fog light relay, same part number, seems to be ok. Still no sound from the fuel pump. Is there a wire I should check next for voltage for the pump?

Re: Intermitant no start and a P0014
Are you suggesting that I have to take it to the dealer or can I check the ecu and associated connectors? I thought that p0014 was in reference to the camshaft position. I'm currently more concerned about the lack of fuel pressure, it seems most cars with a p0014 code still start and run.

Re: Intermitant no start and a P0014
I will check that out next. When they key is turned to the #2 position I can hear something running for a few seconds…..my understanding is that this is the brake accumulator. I do not think that I can hear a fuel pump. I will have to wait till the weekend to try and jump the relay. Thanks.

Intermitant no start and a P0014
So my 2003 XC 70 has 220,000kms on it, I bought it used about a year ago. About 6 months ago it would occasionally not start every couple weeks or so. After an hour or several or sometimes overnight it would start right up fine. Now it won't start at all and I've tried everyday for about 3 weeks! Th...
