Re: Harsh Engagement Into Reverse When Cold

Also, I forgot to mention when I changed the fluid the transmission was cold. I used a Miestersatz brand filter, maybe this is a cheap filter that causing a restriction. Im guessing the best bet would be to check for hydraulic line pressure using a gauge.

Harsh Engagement Into Reverse When Cold

Hello everyone I have a 1995 Volvo 960 with 187K miles. In the past month I have been noticing that when cold my transmission has been going into reverse rather hard (As in the car jumps). I always kept up with maintenance and in the past 6 months months I have replaced the (U joints with GKN greasa...

Re: 1996 850 Base NA Severe Misfire after smooth running

Thank you, I have got rid of many cars because of the rust and rot. I’m also an auto body guy and I’m so disappointed with what Detroit is putting out today 50k pickup truck rusts in 3 yrs. I love my muscle cars, but in past 7 years Volvo’s have been growing on me I would not drive anything else in ...

Re: 1996 850 Base NA Severe Misfire after smooth running

Well great news I finally figured it out. The cam seal under the distributor was blown completely out the bore. As in it was loose and flopping around, I have always been tinkering with cars most of my life but with Chevy’s and other GM’s. What attracted me to the Volvo’s was that they practically n...

Re: Severe Misfire

I’m going to look under the cap again. So water can vent into the cap as well as oil as the engine warms up. I thought only oil can vent out.

Re: Severe Misfire

Update: I went to the junkyard and found when of them “saucer” like things for the distributor with a good o-ring. I buttoned everything up with the dried out distributor cap, thought I was out of the woods. The car started up fast and had tons of power after about 20-25 minute ride it started misfi...

Re: Severe Misfire

I checked the timing and the regulator and they seem fine. I took a second look in the distributor cap and found about a tablespoon of water in it this time. The cap is about 6 months old. From my research there seems to be a plastic dome shaped thing under the cap that acts as a shield/seal. I reus...
