Re: Where to buy 40 Torx 7" extension bit (Thermostat job)?

I got mine from ebay, a used Snap-On long T40 bit as shown in the previous post. New Snap-On bit is a bit expensive so I looked at ebay.

Tight Steering and sudden stall Issues

About 1 week ago, I started feeling that steering wheel was tight during driving straight and turning. Also, steering wheel was reluctant to return to center after a turn, manual turning was needed. When car stopped, I could turn steering wheel without too much effort, just did not feel as easier as...

Re: EGR valve stuck with pipe !!!

Thanks for the tip. I ended up using the 22mm nut as the point of impact when hitting the pipe with hammer. I kept the nut just a little bit above the coupler thread and then whack the nut as hard as I could. There was not too much space for me to swing the hammer. After whacking it for a while, the...

Re: EGR valve stuck with pipe !!!

Thanks for the reply. I had no problem to undo the nut using PB Blaster. The problem was after the nut was unscrew, I could not disconnect the EGR valve from the pipe !!!

Thanks,

EGR valve stuck with pipe, '95 850

I did PCV replacement in my 95 NA wagon. I had so much trouble to disconnect EGR pipe from the EGR valve. I unscrews the 22mm nut without too much problem. The biggest problem was that even with the nut off, I could not pull the valve off the pipe. There was some sort of "plastic sleeve" to which th...

Re: Loud Bang in cold morning start

What if take the serpentine belt off then start? If the bang noise still there, you will know its not any problems with seized pulley or things in that nature. I have never tried that. I will replace the serpentine belt soon as the mileage is passed 240k miles. May try that during the belt replacem...

Do you have any audio clip about backfire ? I have never heard the sound of engine backfire.

Thanks,

I checked them when doing oil change last week. They were all fine: Front, Rear, Right and Upper.

Loud Bang in cold morning start

My car (1995 855 NA) exhibits a loud bang noise due cold morning start. It sounds like an explosion inside the engine. It only happens to the very first cold start of the car. Subsequent start of the car sound normal (no loud bang noise). In previous winter, cold morning start always a bit louder th...

Re: 850 Handbrake Cable

Thanks for posting the photo. The cable end in the S/V70 AWD model uses a clip whereas 850's cable end is a plastic cone shape. I had no problem to remove the old cable end from hub - just wiggle it while pulling it out. I finally went to talk to the Volvo tech in Boston Volvo. He told me to clean t...
