1999 V70 T5 Rear suspension ride height (measurments IPD Blue Rear Springs )

Post by abscate »

On my car with 160k miles on it, original front/rear struts springs, I measure

LHS 12 3/4 inch from mid hub to fender
RHS 12 1/2 inch from mid hub to fender

Im curious as to where this is relative to someone with new stock springs - my impression is my rear is riding low....my car that is...

I confess I do tow small boats a lot with this beast - usually about 500# trailer load and 75# tongue weight

Follow up on this

Measuring 24 3/5 inch from ground to bottom of fender on starboard side, 25 inch on port side.

Fronts are measuring 27 inches! Is this springs or delta links ?? All original equipment from late 1998.

Still hoping to get some 99-2000 V70 (non XC) to measure rear ride height for me....

don't have an answer for you - mine is not at stock height - but i get the impression that the wagons tend to look a little low in the back because the wheels are quite firmly tucked under the fenders, and i don't think the wheel well openings are the same shape front and back. someday i want to get some wheel spacers for the back, so that the effect is diminished.

i believe the rocker panels are intended to be pretty level. if you measure the front and back heights of the rocker, you might get an idea of whether your butt is saggin' compared to the front.

At least an inch lower on the back of the rear seat rocker vs front of front sets rocker.

It looks like a set of new rear springs is in the works

Measured my neighbors 1998 T5 stick

:D :D :D :D :D

and its 26 1/4 front, 25 rear.

It looks like I've lost a good 2 inches of ride height.

Its IPDs turn for my big order....stand by for a sale, released 30 microseconds after I hit the "place order' button.

Well, after finishing delta links, springs, shocks, and bushings, I have at least 2 more inches of ride height in the back. To be fair, I went with IPD blue heavy duty springs. I got lucky - the rear suspension components basically fell apart in my hands so the whole job took about 3 hours.

Ill put some pix up in the right thread

How is the ride? Do the HD springs add any harshness?
