Does anyone know the combined weight of the engine and transmission?

337# for engine and tranny? That seems light...I bought a 2 ton engine hoist and a 2 ton load leveler because I was worried on weight. Good to see I won't have any issues. I searched around forever for that info, glad someone could find it!

Probably a 1-ton hoist would be just fine. The old cast-iron huge V8's are massively heavy things, and I'd probably get a 2-ton for one of those. But today's small aluminum engines are pretty light.

Yeah true enough. I was thinking it was in the 800-1000# category. Boy was I way off.

One benefit of buying the bigger hoist though is you can extend it out longer to lift the same weight. For example at the shortest setting it's 2 ton but the longest setting it's 1/2 ton. I guess with the number posted above I'll be OK using the 1/2 setting giving myself the most amount of room.
