Frustrating A/C Blower Problems

Post by Guest »

Ok, I have searched and can't seem to find a definitive answer for this problem...maybe there is not one! But let me paint the picture and see if someone can help me, please! Ok here goes...I had a heater hose (top one) blow a couple of weeks ago, not having a lot of cash on hand right now (full-time student) I bypassed the heater core. Ok no bid deal since its summer. But since then my blower will come on for a brief moment and then turn off. Sometimes the little lights will come on and flash and the blower will not do anything, weird huh?? I read on here where some people have taken the blower moter out to inspect. So I did so, the motor seems to be fine. Turns ok! All connection seemed to be ok too. I read the codes B1 which were 414 & 418. 413-no vovltage to driver side interior sensor inlet fan & 418- no control signal to blower fan power stage. Thats great but where is this stuff?? Can someone help decifer this for me and lead me in a formidable direction.
Thanks,
Luther

Luther, I have a 850 1995 GLT (non-turbo). My car does the same thing, so you are not the only one. I am trying to figure it out also.

The ballist resistor, last picture in the post, circled in green!!

Also, http://www.fcpgroton.com/ has this part for $99.00. I'm going to give it a try, will update once I do. Good Luck woods.

I was having the same problem. However, trying to locate the blower motor resistor was difficult. Thanks to the link http://www.volvospeed.com/Repair/pdash850.php I was able to locate and replace the defective part. This appears to have fix the fan problem.
