Should I buy '98 v70 t5?
I have always been a Chevy guy but want to broaden my horizons. I was wanting to find a cheap v70 and have run across one locally( North Alabama ). The car looks as if it has never been wrecked but has the usual amount of small dings etc. The car is cheap, $2800.00 but it has 191K miles. It runs pretty good but i am a little afraid of the miles. I'm hoping to get a little advice from some of you volvo guys. Thanks

Depends on if you can do some wrench turning.
Unless you have an idea of the timing belt's age, I'd do that. It should be halfway through its third timing belt.
Then the fluids and consumables. Besides the basic checks, the only thing I'd really worry about is the transmission. At 191k any transmission's time is going to be up, although there always are exceptions to the rule.

Thanks for the info matt. I have always turned my own wrenches since I was a teenager, and I'm 50 , now. The engine seemed to have a small amount of blowby but no major leaks. I want to look at it closer without the owner present before I make any decision. Any other things that are problematic on these cars?
Thanks,
Lindsey

ABS computer fails, but that lights the ABS light, so you'd see it.
O2 sensors go every ~75k miles, and those trip the Check Engine light, so you'd see that.
There's a few stalling issues. See the official stalling thread for more on that. Those seem to be either fuel pump, mass airflow sensor, fuel pump relay, gummy throttle body or camshaft position sensor. None of those are big bucks, just a pain to find out which.
