Hey, what's the deal with Carfax? I bought a 2002 XC with 39,000 miles, it was a Lease Return to Volvo. According to Carfax it had been involved in an accident and incurred some frame damage. The place I bought it from bought the car from Volvo Financial. They had another shop check it out and they ran a laser test on the frame and everything came back clear. (I have the letter from the shop that performed this test) The Carfax then stated that the car had no history of accidents or body damage repair. I looked this car over meticulously for previous body damage, all the panels line up perfectly, there is no evidence of overspray, the doors shut nicely and smoothly, little wind noise and the car drives like a dream (doesn't pull etc.) I am thinking that either A) the car was repaired by one heckuva a body repair person or B) there was incorrect data enterred into the system at some point in time. Does anyone have any input? I got a great deal on this car and am very happy with it but have that little worry in the back of my mind that this car was actually hit badly and repaired. Please advise all you Volvo owners. Thanks !!!!!!

Shops can send in information to CarFax. I suspect that the original data that they had was eroneous and the shop that did the laser test sent in their findings, questioning CarFax's first report. After this, CarFax edited their information and that's what you saw.
