v70 back pressure Topic is solved

1997 v70 2.5 10v. 155000 miles fsh. after a 10 mile journey i could smell burning oil. It was coming from oil filler cap. there was a lot of pressure when i removed it. Prior to this i,ve had no loss or use of oil and it drives perfectly well no loss of power or misfiring.Do you think it could be a blocked breather?.I,ve been looking through haynes manual and was toying with replacing oil seperator and flame trap.Does it sound more terminal?. Any help greatly appreciated.

That's a typical symptom associated with a clogged oil trap. Make sure you buy a new one; they're only about $30 USD. If you're a weekend mechanic and it's your first time doing the job, I'd allow 4 to 5 hours for it.

If that doesn't do it, then it's a pcv hoses cleaning or replacement. www.fcpgroton.com has them. Just call them about the "pcv kit" for your car.
