Thinking of getting a Volvo got some Qs

Post by alf »

I am thinking of getting a Volvo V70 with jumper seats for the family. Got some questions...

Which generation is better?

Any know reliability issues?

How safe are the jump seats?

Which model is best?

thanks

Check out Consumers Report for the yearly car review. It has their spin on all the various models and problem areas.

I've owned both a 96 850 and a 98 V70. Basically they are the same. From my experience the wagons hold up well. I've experienced the same maintenance patterns on both. I do most of the maintenance myself.

As far as annoyances: The back seat has an annoying squeak in both cases. I fixed it in the 850 but have failed to fix it in the V70.
The tail gate panel eventually starts rattling. That's fixable with a kit.

The third seat is small and rear facing, only good for small children on short rides. Can't really speak to the safety aspect of it.
