00 V70 SE auto slips between shifts? & pinging w/low oct

Post by Andy Segal »

What could be the problem with low speed slip/hesitation between shifts in an automatic?

Also, is it normal for a 2000 V70 SE with out a turbo to ping on low octane fuels?

Thanks, Andy

Check the transmission fluid level. Is it orange or brown? Does it smell burnt?

What octane fuel are you using?

I will check the fluid and i was running 89.

I just changed the fuel filter again and am now trying a tank of 93 with a 104 emissions additive. I hope it works.

Are all the 00 V70 non turbos 2.4L?

Thanks again, Andy

Oh, the tranny feels like it is not in gear...not slipage? only under light throttle.

Should not be pinging with good gas and new filter.

Any codes (check engine light)?

I'm pretty sure all 00s were 2.4L.

Thanks for all the info.

It is still pinging yesterday with 93 octane...

The oxygen sensor was replaced about 6 months ago but the problem came right back. No longer doing business with Bruces Garage in Norwell, MA!

I am thinking there is something else wrong. Is there an anti-knock sensor?

Also, can not seem to find the auto trans oil dipstick, does the 00 models have one? Is it a auto 4 or 5 speed? the lever has L, 3, 4, D...

Pinging... I don't know. A Guess --> might be the crank position sensor.
