1996 850 Strong Vibration During Braking

7 months have gone by, another winter, and I took a look at the rear pads - amazing
hardly any wear at all, maybe 1/16" gone with all 4 pads about the same. These are
NAPA premium and I think that they have a bit more clearance so that they don't drag.

These had factory rear hardware that we reused the last time we worked on the rears,
since I couldn't find an exact match after trying a few auto parts stores. I decided to buy
Volvo hardware and see what it looked like, not inexpensive at around $40. I was in such
a rush to put these in today that I forgot to see if they work like the older original Volvo
hardware. I'll look at the contact points next time the car is here for more work:

Rear brake problems with frozen calipers again, here is a summary of this thread:

Bought this Volvo June 5, 2014 with estimated 100K miles.
Sept. 7, 2014 Loud droning and rumbling sound when applying the brakes.
NAPA Premium rotors all around.
Front: NAPA Premium pads.
Rear: Volvo factory rear pads and shims.
Rear only: Cardone rebuilt rear calipers from FCP.
Reused original hardware that touches pads pushing them out.

August 25, 2015: no odometer, est. 30K miles since install.
Front NAPA Premium pads had 1/4" both sides!
Volvo rear pads down to 1/16" even wear driver's side
Volvo rear pads 1/8" and 3/16" on passenger's side.
Replaced rear pads with NAPA Premium.

March 19, 2016: Fixed odometer 153,286 miles
Rear pads were all in good condition with about 3/16" material
left so not much wear at all.
Installed new factory Volvo rear hardware.

June 20, 2017: Car has not been used for 7 months.
Odometer fixed mileage is now 178,313
Front pads are still fine with 3/16" material.
Rear drivers side pads are about 1/16".
Rear passenger side 3/16" inside pad, 1/8" outside pistons frozen.
Both calipers VERY rusty.
Needs new rear calipers and pads again, should be free from FCP.

Seems the rear brakes are a defective design - probably need to be
serviced, inspected and cleaned twice a year.

It is possible that the flex hose lines to the rears are partially blocked so that
the pressure remains after braking, causing them to drag but I doubt it since
they worked well for at least the first 10K miles.
