If you don’t have 12 volts at the lamp bulb, you trace backwards until you find the 12 Volts.
One weak spot on these cars is the wiring harness in the left tailgate in North America, I’m not sure if it’s wired the same side in UK but it is worth exploring

Hallo and thank you, abscate!
There's zero volts at either side's fog lamp. Have I said all other lamps are good?
The UK version's wiring harness also runs along the LHS. I've had the rear seats/boards/carpets out, unclipped the ducting and the violet/white lead is intact. I've not got any further as had to use car. We have guests visiting this week so nothing much will happen before next weekend.
Nothing much that is until the new switch arrives... Fingers crossed!

Good news!
New switch sent power down the violet/white line. Whilst there was power at the back of the car, the rear fogs were still not working!
I did continuity checks on both left and right lampholders and found a break between the violet/white power pin and the fog lamp connector, in both lampholders. I traced this to a broken/removed, zinc strip. Holding the lampholder lampside up, with the fog/tail light housing at the bottom, there are two, ±2mm, grooves in the black pastic, ±30mm apart, slightly above the housing and to the left. The missing link ran between the two zinc strips, immediately adjacent to the right of the grooves.
I remade the link and bingo, the rear fogs became fully operational. If anyone wants photos, PM me and I'll be happy to do the necessary.
Thank you to all contributors. Your help is very much appreciated.

Ha-ha-ha! JHC, I thought that Brexit is meant to strengthen USA/UK bonds. Maybe that's "false news"...!
Case in point, we've friends over from France - last visit before the tunnel is flooded? - so will send snaps at end of week. Do I do that via PM?
Also, Matthew sent me a PM but I couldn't answer. Is there a work-around to the restriction, please?

I've not done the snaps but HAVE bought a VIDA manual and found the reason/easy explanation to the mysteries of the rear fog light. There are two, lower tail light lamp holders available!
Whether or not there is a rear fog light, is down to which lamp holder is fitted. The two types are, #3512418 w/rear fog light circuit and #3512419 w/o rear fog light circuit! They fit equally either left or right hand side.
Hope this helps.
