Does anyone out there in Volvoland have a step by step or know of a site that has a step by step for 135A recharge procedure for the S70. It has to be relatively simple. i just don't have a manual that show it, and I
don't want to break any valuable Swedish/ Belgian plastic finding out...
I just replaced the power window switch on the drivers door with the integrated central locking and button, tip, disconnect the positive battery cable while doing anything with the switches in these. I had a faulty drivers door switch, the one touch type that is standard. I tried "fixing" it as I "thought" it had a faulty contact, i was correct, however I ended up frying it/ shorting it as it still had power connected. These new run around $282.00 yes, I am serious. I got a used one for $90.00...
REmember if you don't have the radio code you can always get it off the dealer, it is worth it to disconnect.... really...
Anyhow, anyone out there who knows of or has done the A/C recharge themselves please help, my kids are melting more and more each day, I have an 800 plus mile drive coming up and I don't want them to suffocate... thanks.... PS I got a really cool service light reset tool from "the car parts man" an e-bay vendor out of the UK - for under $50.00, the button holding odometer thing does not work, I have tried it in several s70/ v70's. I'm really sorry but it's complete mumbo jumbo. I wish it did work but it doesn't, also there is no dedicated fuse for the service light, it is linked to a bunch of other electrical items in the secondary fuse box under the hood in front of the drivers side windshield.
I've seen comments saying you can take the bulb out... crazy, digging away at the dash, possibly breaking good quality Swedish plastic/ vinyl stripping torx head screws, it just won't go back the same u'r wasting u'r time... buy a reset tool, it's worth it if you intend keeping the car, sticking with Volvo's.... alright I'm off. Thanks in advance. The haggis.
A/C Recharge on 98 S70 Topic is solved
first of all, do NOT disconnect the positive terminal... Disconnect the negative terminal. In a negative-ground system, you want to disconnect the negative terminal.
Secondly, grab a haynes manual. It's got a lot of great information, including A/C recharge instructions.
and it's 134A

Hello Potroast!
Thanks for the info, on the Haynes Manual, very informative indeed maybe we could all just save ourselves the time and reply to everything with that one... TRY THE HAYNES MANUAL!!!(IDIOT), IMPLIED...... ehhh...
Maybe you should just start your own forum, call it, try the Haynes Manual...Eh I've got a question?... try the Haynes Manual... next..
As for the electrical advice, the whole idea is to cut the power so you won't short anything, right? negative ground or otherwise... power off, no short..
Power on, possible short.... thanks for the advice though, Everything working fine either way, guess I should be thankful to the electrical gods that I didn't blow myself to smithereens......
Oh and I apologize profusely for the typo on the 13(5) A. I have very sloppy keyboard etiquette, but great catch just the same, do you like proofreading?
MATT, THANKS FOR THE LINK, I APPRECIATE YOUR HELP.
HAGGIS.

Farewell for now my fellow Volvovians, THE HAGGIS
wow, you must have had a bad day.
I don't mean to insult when I recommend the haynes manual. It's an excellent tool, and I know I myself prefer to grab it out of the manual really quick instead of having to wait around on a forum.
As for the typo I corrected it because there is a 135a, but you wouldn't want to buy that... More of a curtousy.
The point of disconnecting the negative terminal is *safety*. Disconnecting the positive terminal before the negative terminal has led to a lot of problems in the past, including personal injury and death. Sorry for looking out for your well-being.

Point taken, I apologize... I took it the wrong way.. I was up until 1.30 am last night "fixing" stuff on the old Swedish beast.....
Alas I let her go today, I traded her for a VW Eurovan.... that is why possibly I was in a foul mood this morning...
She had 115 clicks on her, I got her for $10,000 off lease back in Jan 2001, the air pump was going on her, tranny in my opinion needed flushing... aerial I replaced and the door window switches... Great car but plagued with an appetite for bulbs which was most insatiable...
I am sorry to see her go, however I had no choice. The missus is expecting twins in December..... and we have a 1 and 2 yr old right now...
Four car seats in the back of an S70, they will not go...
I crumpled....All is not lost!! I have a 94 BMW 540I with an engine I swapped in with 70 clicks on it, it is my project, money waster.... divorce maker...
I drive a 94 Civic I have owned from new with 228K miles on it every day..fill it up every two weeks with the cheap gas, changed two radiators and three mufflers in it's lifespan so far... in my opinion you can't beat these cars, also has original clutch... standard tranny.
I intend to buy a T5 in the future .....
P.S I can't stand the new S60/ S80 and that humongous jeep thing they have out.. They look like Fords..... if I wanted to buy a Ford, then I would buy a Ford...
Volvo post V70 S70 hold no lustre for me any more, just an opinion....comparable to Porsche entering the SUV market with that thing..
WHY???? I know market share etc., I don't agree...
Thanks for the feedback guys, I'll be back!!!
