Looking for a cable for tilting the front seat backrest Volvo c70 1999 (8613526)

Post by amiral1982 »

Hello, I live in Belgium and own a 1999 Volvo C70 Coupe T-5 Man Saffron. It's a vehicle that gives me and my family a lot of pleasure.

I'm writing to you because I'm desperately looking for a Y-cable that allows the seatback to tilt forward when you pull the handle. The one on my passenger seat broke, and my daughter can only get in through the driver's side.
The cable is referenced under the code 8613526 and, unfortunately, is no longer in production. I contacted many dealers, but none had one available.
I'm writing this to ask if anyone has one and would be willing to sell it to me.
Thank you all for your help.

Send US a picture and maybe we can guide you to fab one. We didn’t get a lot of C70s over here so junkyards are sparse

Thank you so much for your feedback. Here's a picture. Unfortunately, it broke at the S-shaped end that connects the two cables (they unlock each side for switching).
I made a temporary repair with two bicycle cables (same material as the original) which works, but I'd like to make it more reliable and get a new part.
Thanks again!

I think I would swap the driver one over to the passenger side for the moment. That S piece probably isn’t crucial , you probably can fab an anchor that will work
If there is a hole for the S piece just wrap the wire in and crimp a ferrule on the end

Crimp cable connectors can work surprisingly well. Look in local hardware stores. Proper size is important.

How hard is it to remove the part from a junkyard car? I have pulled apart 4 seat front seats but not 2 door front seats. Do you need any special tools to do this removal?

Well you don't know until you do on how rare parts for some P80's are becoming.

Thank you for your replies.

It's not overly complicated to reach and remove the cable. You need to remove the back cover of the seat and unhook the two metal clips on the sides with pliers. Then, the Y-shaped cable is hooked onto three clips, and you need pliers again to remove them. There's also a cable tie on the top that needs to be cut.
